Preliminary Activities
Prayer
Good morning class, everybody please stand Let us put ourselves in the presence
up, let us pray. Please lead the prayer Ms. Cimeni. of God. In the name of the Father, the
Son and the Holy Spirit, Our Father,
who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy
name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will
be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and
forgive us our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass against
us; and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen!
Greetings
Again! Good morning Class! Good morning Ms. Palua!
Classroom Management
Please pick up the pieces of paper, and Okay ma’am.
arrange your chairs.
Checking of Attendance
Secretary in the Classroom, please give me Yes ma’am! All of the
the attendance of the class. students are present.
Okay! Very Good Class!
Review of the previous lesson
Everyone, do you remember our topic last Our topic last meeting is
meeting? Anyone? about Factoring with
common monomial factor.
Okay! You have an idea in factoring. Yes, ma’am.
1. Activity
Okay! So let us check your assignment last One student is raising her hand: I
time in factoring. volunteer ma’am!
Please answer to the board and explain. Any Student’s answer in the question is x2
volunteer? – 4x – 12 and 12 – 4x – x2 has the
same factors? Is no which is, the
factors of x2 – 4x – 12 are (x – 6)(x +
2), while 12 – 4x – x2 has (2 – x)(6 +
x) as its factors.
Okay! Very good!
2. Analysis
Okay! Everyone! Do you know how to Yes, Ma’am!
factor, right?
3. Abstraction
Please listen as I read this.
“In solving problems involving factors of
polynomials, it must be solved algebraically.
It needs time and great patience so that you
will be able to value its contributions to life
such as finding the dimension of an enclosed
field or box, sharing a cost, finding average
speed or average time covered, and solving
mixture or work problems.”
s=
The garden has side of x – 7 meters in order to
have an area of x2 - 14x + 49. Therefore its
dimension is x – 7 meters by x – 7 meters.
s=
In cancelling the squared in the left side, we have to
put a square root sign in the right side. Do you get
me? Yes, ma’am.
Okay, next. We have
¿ √ x −14 x+ 49and then factor inside the square
2
root
¿ √(x−7)(x−7) since this is a perfect square, we
can write this one into this
√ 2
¿ ( x−7 ) next, we have to cancel the square root
sign, remember, you can not cancel is the sign inside
not 2. After we cancel, so we have our final answer,
which is:
¿ x−7
4. Application
Yes, ma’am.
How special product is applied to real life problems?
Is it important to you as a student? In what
particular way?
Special product and
factoring techniques are
important tools for solving
real life problems such as
finding the dimension of an
enclosed field or box,
sharing a cost, finding
Very good! average speed or average
time covered, and solving
Any questions? mixture or work problems.
No, ma’am.
IV. ASSESSMENT/EVALUATION
Answer the problem.(5 minutes)
1. What is the area of a square garden if it has a side of 2x – 5 meters?
Solution:
Area of Square = s^2
=(2x-5)^2
=(2x-5)(2x-5)
=4x^2-20x+25
∴The area of the square garden is 4x^2-20x+25.
V. ASSIGNMENT/AGREEMENT
