MỤC TIÊU KHÓA HỌC:

• Giúp người học nắm ñược các từ vựng, các ñiểm văn phạm cơ bản thường gặp
trong quá trình sử dụng Tiếng Anh trong thi công electrical & instrument tại
các dự án
• Tạo kỹ năng cơ bản, làm tiền ñề ñể người học có thể tự nghiên cứu trau dồi
thêm kỹ năng Tiếng Anh sau này

CẤU TRÚC KHÓA HỌC:

• Khóa ñào tạo ñược thực hiện trong thời lượng 08 buổi và ñược bố trí ñều trong
4 tuần (dự kiến 2 buổi/tuần).
• Phương pháp ñào tạo: ðào tạo theo phương pháp tập trung, kết hợp giữa giáo
trình và hướng dẫn trực tiếp.

NỘI DUNG KHÓA HỌC:

Nội dung khóa học bao gồm 8 bài học chính và 7 phụ lục. Mỗi bài học bao gồm 2
phần chính: phần bài ñọc bằng tiếng anh và phần văn phạm.
• Các bài ñọc tiếng anh tương ứng với mối bài ñề cập về một nội dung cụ thể
liên quan ñến thi công electrical & instrument. Cuối mỗi bài có liệt kê (kèm
nghĩa Tiếng Việt) các từ vựng mới/khó có trong bài. Thông qua các bài ñọc,
người học sẽ củng cố ñược các từ vựng chuyên ngành có trong bài ñọc. Người
học cũng sẽ rèn luyện ñược khả năng ñọc dịch các tài liệu Tiếng Anh khác
trong công việc.
• Phần văn phạm kèm theo bài gồm các ñiểm văn phạm cơ bản thường gặp
trong sử dụng tiếng anh có kèm các ví dụ và các bài tập cuối mỗi bài ñể người
học nắm rõ hơn.
• Các phụ lục ñược tổng hợp từ các tài liệu (bằng Tiếng Anh) ñã và ñang ñươc
sử dụng tại các dự án; Tổng hợp từ các tài liệu Tiếng Anh khác nhằm thực tế

I. CONTENTS
1.1. Unit 1: CABLE LADDER/TRAY SYSTEM

Ladders/ trays herein include all ladders, trays and accessories used for running cables and
instrument tubing.
Normally, the length of the ladders and trays straight section is 6m each. In addition to,
there are various sizes of width, from 50mm (for tray) and 100mm (for both ladder and
tray) to 600mm and even 900mm. Other dimensions such as rung width, thickness, depth,
… varies from different manufacturers.
Cable trays/ ladders are made of materials like stainless steel, FRP, aluminum etc. They
can be used for indoor applications & instrumentation cable, otherwise they can be used
for outdoor and heavily loaded areas. They can be pressured with strong gravity depend on
different kind of cable tray/ladder.
The life of cable trays to more than 25 years with Galvanization. In fact, cable trays/
ladders are applied mainly in industry.

1.2. Unit 2: SUPPORT SYSTEM

Supports are fabricated to support for trays/ ladder and Instrument devices. Support for
Instrument is called Stanchion support or Standing support. In addition, Other support are
also fabricated for Telecom device, Lighting system, ….
Supports are normally made of Angle steel, Channel steel and other steel. After fabricated
support, they are transported to Blasting and Painting area to prepare surface and paint.
Ladder/ tray supports (illustration below) shall be installed for the ladders/trays to be laid
on. The cables are run in the ladder/ tray from Junction box to Instruments or the another
one, and Tubing are run in tray from Manifold/ tapping point to Instruments.

1.3. Unit 3: EARTHING SYSTEM

In electrical engineering, ground or earth may be the reference point in an electrical circuit
or a common return path for electric current, or a direct physical connection to the Earth.
Electrical circuits may be connected to ground (earth) for several reasons. The main
reason is to help prevent transient voltage from damaging sensitive electronic equipment.
Two separate earthing systems shall be provided for each platform as follows:

Power system earthing


Platform (Dirty) Earth System for the electrical power system shall be provided to earth
power system neutrals, non-current-carrying metal parts of all electrical apparatus,
metallic conduit, cable sheaths and shield, steel structure used for mounting electrical and
instrumentation equipments and personnel protection earthing.
Instrumentation system earthing
Instrument (Clean) Earth System for instrumentation and control system. This earthing
system shall be used for earthing of instrumentation equipments and signals, as well as
screens of signal cables.

1.4. Unit 4: DISTRIBUTION BOARD SYSTEM

Where these equipments are floor mounted they shall be erected and installed in
accordance with the drawings and the Manufacturer’s instructions. Where these cabinets
are wall mounted they shall be firmly bolted into position such that the top of the cabinet
is approximately 2m above floor level unless specified otherwise. The top of adjacent wall
mounted units shall be aligned.
All outdoor mounted distribution panels shall be fitted with a rain shedding solar
protection cover to provide all seasons shielding.
The design shall arrange connections to distribution systems such that the load is balanced
across the three phases as far as practical.
All 3-phase AC power supplies shall be connected to have an anti-clockwise phase
rotation of order Red, White, Blue.

1.5. Unit 5: CABLE SYSTEM

Cables here include all cables for used for power supply, heat tracing, control,
instrumentation, and communication systems in the project
Pulled cable make sure that a sufficient length of cable is available and ready for
installation. Ensure that cable is correct specification according to designed specification
and Cable schedule.
Check the insulation resistance and continuity of the whole cable length in drum to make
sure defects can be determined early.
Execution procedure for cable pulling:
- Bring the cable drums to a convenient lay-down area. Lay the cable winches along
the pulling road at locations with high friction.
- Pull, dress and tie the cable along the route, from start end to destination end,
following specifications.
- Cut the cables at two ends, make sure some contingency length has been reserved.
- Tape the cut ends, to prevent water absorption.
- Mark the two ends with a temporary cable tag, with tape or pen.
- Mark the cable on the cable schedule as “Pulled”.
- Update the installation information for As-built dossier.
- Record cable tag, type and lengths result

1.6. Unit 6: TUBING SYSTEM

Tubing here implies all the instrument tubing for pneumatic instrument and process
systems. All tubing and fitting shall be 316L SS, fully annealed and seamless, conforming
to ASTM A269 and shall have standard U.S threads.
Tubing shall be bonded when possible to minimize the use of fittings.
Tubing clamps is used to fix tubing into tubing tray or tubing support, shall be made of
non-corrosive material, stainless steel AISI 316 and/ or flame retardant plastic. Cable
tray, ladder or equal to be used for mechanical protection is required. Trays are not
required for internal tubing on components if tubing is sufficiently protected. Single and
multiple tubing runs shall be supported at least every 1.8m of running length
Instrument tubing and cables may be installed on the same field tray for shorter distances
(approximate 5m). Instrument tubing and cables may be routed through the same cable/
tubing penetration provided the transit is approved for such use.
The process signal tubing of pressure and differential pressure instruments shall slope a
minimum of 10mm per 100mm of running length. Tubing for liquid slope downward
toward the instrument. Tubing for gas service shall slope upward toward the instrument.

1.7. Unit 7: EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION

Most of equipments will be installed onto these support and insulated by rubber. Devices
or equipments installation need a few basic drawings such as P&ID, Equipment layout,
Isometric, to locate equipments position. However, equipments installation have to make
sure that:
- In accordance with the Specification, Drawings, and Manufacturer’s
instructions
- Providing ease of access for operation, service and maintenance.
All equipments after installation shall be covered with fire resistant tapes or wrapped with
plastic during the painting of the surrounding structures, pipes, vessels, tanks and other
equipments. Special care shall be taken to prevent damage of any electrical equipment due
to welding or other fabrication or installation operations.

1.8. Unit 8: ELECTRICAL & INSTRUMENT PRE-COMMISSIONING

Pre-commissioning (pre-com) known that is period to prepare for Commissioning is


performed on-shore. This period is important to re-check equipments or Skids function
after calibration or FAT.
After installation completed, pre-com may be performed. That means Construction
checksheets have already been signed by Client.
We should prepare equipments, tools, consumable estimation and Certification of testing
equipment to make sure that they are available. Otherwise we prepare the drawings such
as:
- Equipments/ devices layout
- P&ID
- Loop diagram
- Single line, one line diagram, block diagram
- I/O list
- Cause effect
- Other relative ones
- Data sheet of Equipments/ devices, vendor data, Catalogue,
We must understand about safety regulation before precommissioning for any skid or
equipment. We should prepare Permit to Work; warning label; barrier; tag in, tag out …
and safety equipment for worker such as: safety hardness, earing protection, hand gloves
are prepared properly with our company and project safety regulation.
