ENTHUSIASTIC MATH WIZARDS

I. INTRODUCTION:

The ENTHUSIASTIC MATH WIZARDS provides opportunity


to each members to look into and focus the strategies club
members are using to solve mathematical problems, in particular
their strategies for solving number and spatial problems.
A common approach to developing skills from patterns is to
use matchstick pictures. This activities develop ideas and skills in
terms of techniques that can be used to get students ‘inside the
patterns’ and in so develop some skills that are part of a tool box
for the development of algebraic thinking.

II. DATE OF ACTIVITY: July 12, 2019

IIi. OBJECTIVES:
The activities adopted by this activities focuses on:
 To enhance the creativity and logical thinking of the students
of Tagumpay National High School.
 To develop their ability to analyze patiently and think fast in
solving each matchstick problem.
 Constructing and manipulating representations
(figures/shapes) that lead to the expression of a
generalization.
 Communicating generalization to others.
 Visualization as a way of seeing how patterns are
constructed.

Match Stick puzzles are rearrangement puzzles in which a


number of matchsticks are arrange, rectangles or triangles. The
problem to solve is usually formulated as “move a matchsticks to
make squares (or triangles, or rectangles, or circles)”.

V. CONCLUSION:

The day of matchsticks classroom-based competition was


conducted very well from the easy round up to the end.
The Enthusiastic Math Wizards Hopes for the better of the
school and engaging ourselves to the activities of this purpose.
We hope for more activities and cooperation of the students for
this school year.

Vi. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
The Enthusiastic Math Wizards are thankful for the chance
given the school to show our whole-heartedly participation in the
day of the competition. Our club also sends sincere appreciation
for the students, classroom math officers, and math teachers for
cooperating with the Enthusiastic Math Wizards.
