ABSTRACT

When writing an abstract, try to answer these questions:

 Why was the research done or experiment conducted?

The experiment was conducted because numerous researches have demonstrated the
health benefits of Gumamela (Rosa-sinensis) for both the skin and body. It has several
advantages for us, including protection against UV ray damage to the skin, strong
antioxidant capacity, suppression of collagen and elastase, and SPF, which is used to
protect the skin from the sun and wrinkles. The largest living organ that protects the
body from the environment is the skin, which also helps with temperature control,
fluid balance, warding off harmful bacteria and poisons, and some UV protection.

 What problem is being addressed?

The problem that is being addressed are the following; 1.) how effective is the sheet
mask on the skin in moisturizing and rejuvenation; 2.) does the addition of a
component for the mask improves its grip on the skin using aloe vera; and 3.) how
long will the sheet mask last.

 What results are found? (if applicable)

- No results were found
 What is the meaning of the result? (if applicable)
- No results were found
 How is the problem better understood now than before, if at all?
- The problem is better to understood now because of some parts of the paper that
explains why it was needed and what is the main purpose of this study.
INTRODUCTION

 The introduction of narrative report discusses the problem being studied and other theory
that is relevant to understanding the findings.
 The largest living organ that protects the body from the environment is the skin,
which also helps with temperature control, fluid balance, warding off harmful bacteria
and poisons, and some UV protection. The stratum corneum, the uppermost layer of
the epidermis, which is selectively permeable and heterogeneous and maintains
enough water for it to function, guards the skin against outside pressures and
desiccation. A change in the stratum corneum's integrity, which increases trans
epidermal water loss and reduces skin moisture, is commonly a sign of skin barrier
malfunction.

However, not all skin types are created equal. Each person has a specific skin type,
which is related to the condition of their skin. Seborrhea, often known as oily skin, is
a common aesthetic problem brought on by enlarged sebaceous glands that exude
excessive amounts of sebum, giving the appearance of shiny and greasy skin.
Xeroderma, often known as dry skin, is a condition when the skin is not adequately
hydrated and loses its suppleness.

Even while natural ingredients have been used for centuries as a skin care method,
they are becoming more and more frequent in contemporary formulations. Before the
creation of synthetic compounds with comparable properties, plants were the primary
source of all cosmetics. The impact of natural components in skin care products
depends on their efficacy in vitro and in vivo as well as the sort of dermatological
basis on which they are mixed.

Gumamela has many qualities that are good for your health. A terrific natural skin
moisturizer that is kind to sensitive skin is mucilage. Hibiscus’ high mucilage content
improves the skin’s capacity to retain moisture, which is essential for maintaining a
young appearance. Hibiscus’s naturally moisturizing properties help skin stay
hydrated, soft, and supple for longer, preventing dry, dull skin.
The creation of a sheet mask containing hibiscus flower extract is the goal of this
exploratory investigation to evaluate the product's effectiveness on the skin and
durability. The researchers dabbled in this field because gumamela is available in the
Philippines but hasn't received much attention.

Hypothesis

The researchers have made these hypotheses that the sheet mask made from Hibiscus petal
extract with the addition of the components will be effective in terms of moisturizing and
rejuvenation, grip on the skin. The product is also expected to have a longer shelf life.

Null Hypothesis

Ho= There is no significant difference in using Gumamela as the main component and the
addition of some ingredients in making the sheet mask in terms of moisturizing and rejuvenating
the skin.

Alternate Hypothesis

Ha= There is a significant difference in using Gumamela as the main component and the addition
of some ingredients in making the sheet mask in terms of moisturizing and rejuvenating the skin.

Implication

P → Q = If the gumamela sheet mask has the right characteristics for moisturizing and
rejuvenating and has the skin suitability in terms of grip of the product on the skin, then the
produced gumamela sheet mask has the potential to become a natural skincare product.
METHODS AND MATERIALS

 Provides an overview of any equipment, apparatus or other substances used in the

experiment, as well as the steps taken during the experiment. If using any specific
amounts of materials, makes sure the amount is listed.

Ex: pipette, graduated cylinder, 1.13 mg of Na, 0.67 mg Ag

Quantity Materials Quantity Ingredients

1 Glass Pot 5 Gumamela flowers

1 set Measuring Spoons 2 tbsp. Honey

3 Spoons 2 tbsp. Gelatin

1 Blender/Mixer 1 tbsp. Aloe Vera

2 Container 500ml Water

4 Ziplock Bag 4 Sheet Mask

 List the steps taken as they actually happened during the experiment, not as they were
supposed to happen
RESULTS

 The results show the data that was collected or found during the experiment.

- No results were found

 Explain in words the data that was collected.

- No data collected

 If using graphs, charts, or other figures, present them in the results section of the lab
report.
o Tables should be labeled numerically, as "Table 1", "Table 2", etc. Other figures
should be labeled numerically as "Figure 1", "Figure 2", etc.

 Calculations to understand the data can also be presented in the results.

- No results were found

DISCUSSION

 It analyzes the results of the experiment and is a discussion of the data.

- No results were found

 If any results are unexpected, explain why they are unexpected and how they did or did
not affect the data obtained.

- No results were found

 Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the design of the experiment and compare your
results to other similar experiments.

- No results were found

 If there are any experimental errors, analyze them.

- The experimental error that we had, is that we didn’t gave enough time to try our
products, we take our research seriously but we just lack of time.

 Explain your results and discuss them using relevant terms and theories.

- No results were found

 When writing a discussion, try to answer these questions: (own words)

o What do the results indicate?

- No results were found

o What is the significance of the results?

- No results were found

o Are there any gaps in knowledge?

- Yes, there are any gaps. We lack on providing more reliable information about the
result since it is not reliable because we only tried our product once.

o Are there any new questions that have been raised?

- none
CONCLUSION

 The conclusion is a summation of the experiment. It should clearly and concisely state
what was learned and its importance.

- According to the study’s summary, the researchers concluded and came to the
conviction that the developed sheet mask is efficient and effective. People who
are concerned about their skin and skin care enthusiasts can both use this mask.
Additionally, the sheet mask is very practical, and the materials are very
reasonably priced. Whether what type of skin, the product is safe-to-use since it’s
an all-natural product. But still, the effectiveness of the product depends on the
skin.

 If there is future work that needs to be done, it can be explained in the conclusion.

- The researchers predict that the study will be expanded utilizing a range of
elements and techniques. Use a controlled variable in this study. Future
researchers are recommended to start testing the product as soon as possible in
order to expand and further examine other components that might be added to
improve the sheet mask. As this study only focused on two skin kinds, the
researchers urge future studies to expand on this knowledge by include more
types to make it more diversified. A much more effective research instrument,
such as a survey that has been updated by subject-matter experts, is also advised.
The professionals advise considering extra organic components that could
improve the product's aroma without affecting how well it works.
REFLECTION

 Factors that affect the experimentation process and results.

- The factors that affect the experimentation process and results is time and lack of
communication.
 How do these factors affect the process and results?
- These factors affect the process and results because we only tried the product once
when in fact, it should be 1 week or more. And we don’t communicate that much
because we have our own doings we only communicate when the deadline is near.
 Realizations during and after the investigation.
- My realization during and after the investigation is that you should make more
time on this investigation for it is not easy to find a result in just a short period of
time.
