Mid Semester Examination, 2019-Computer

Paper: Electronic Circuits Dated: January 19, 2021

Total Marks: 65 Time Allowed: 1 hour 15 minutes

Let xyz be the digits in your roll number, e.g.

x=0, y=0, z=7 for Roll # 007
x=0, y=2, z=3 for Roll # 023
x=1, y=0, z=2 for Roll # 102
You can use following link to calculate mod of desired numbers.
https://goodcalculators.com/modulo-calculator/
Write the calculated values at the start of your solution.

IMPORTANT: Late Submissions will lead to m2 marks every minute starting from m=1. So, it is
advised to wind up (Complete or Incomplete) your work 5 minutes earlier to cut-off time for
successfully scanning and uploading your paper. Good Luck.

Question # 1 (CLO 1, C2) (20)

Draw (IB, VBE) and (IC, VCE) characteristics curves. Explain the effect on IB, IC and VCE for increasing or
decreasing values of VBB and VCC respectively. (10+10)

Question # 2 (CLO 2, C3) (20)

Follow steps discussed in lectures to draw the output
waveform of circuit in Fig. 1. Fig. 1
Vin = 5 + (Roll Number) mod 5, R=100 Ω
Vz1 = (z+1) mod 3
Vz2 = (y+1) mod 2

Question # 3 (CLO 2, C3) (25)

1. Determine all transistor terminal voltages, terminal currents and inter-terminal voltages with
respect to ground in Fig. 2. Assume VCC=(y+1) mod 9. (15)
2. Whether the transistor in Fig. 3 is biased in cutoff, saturation, or the linear region. (10)
Vin = (y+1) mod 3, VCC = 5 + (z+1) mod 3
