Writing Task 1 and Task 2 are the two components of the IELTS Writing module.

To achieve a band score of at least 6.0,

you need to focus on specific strategies, structure, and vocabulary usage. Here's a comprehensive guide to help you
succeed:

Task 1:

1. Understand the question: Carefully read the question prompt, identify the type of graph/chart, and understand
the main trends or key features.
2. Introduction (Paraphrase): Begin by paraphrasing the question statement, giving a brief overview of the
graph/chart.
3. Use synonyms and different sentence structures to demonstrate your language skills.
4. Avoid copying words from the question prompt.
5. Overview (Main Features): In a separate paragraph, summarize the main trends, significant changes, or key
points shown in the graph/chart.
6. Highlight the most important aspects without going into specific details.
7. Details (Data Description): In the body paragraphs, provide specific details to support the overview. Group
information logically and describe the data in a clear and organized manner.
8. Use appropriate linking words to connect sentences and ideas.

advantages/disadvantages, etc.), and plan your response.
2. Introduction (Paraphrase + Thesis statement): Paraphrase the question prompt and present your opinion or main
argument.
3. State your position clearly and concisely.
4. Body Paragraphs:
- Paragraph 1: Present the first supporting point with examples, explanations, or evidence.
- Paragraph 2: Introduce the second supporting point with relevant details.
- Use topic sentences to clearly state the main idea of each paragraph.
- Provide evidence, examples, or statistics to support your points.
- Use cohesive devices to ensure smooth transitions between paragraphs and ideas.
5. Counterargument (Optional): Acknowledge the opposing viewpoint briefly and refute it with logical reasoning or
evidence.
6. Conclusion: Summarize your main points and restate your opinion or provide a balanced view if necessary.
7. Avoid introducing new ideas or information.

Useful Strategies:

4. Proofreading: Leave a few minutes at the end to review and edit your writing for grammar, spelling, and
coherence.
