Task 1:

4. Avoid copying words from the question prompt.
5. Overview (Main Features): In a separate paragraph, summarize the main trends, significant changes, or key
points shown in the graph/chart.
6. Highlight the most important aspects without going into specific details.
7. Details (Data Description): In the body paragraphs, provide specific details to support the overview. Group
information logically and describe the data in a clear and organized manner.
8. Use appropriate linking words to connect sentences and ideas.
9. Compare and contrast data if applicable.
Task 2:
1. Analyze the question: Understand the topic, identify the specific task (problem/solution,
advantages/disadvantages, etc.), and plan your response.
2. Introduction (Paraphrase + Thesis statement): Paraphrase the question prompt and present your opinion or main
argument.
3. State your position clearly and concisely.
4. Body Paragraphs:
- Paragraph 1: Present the first supporting point with examples, explanations, or evidence.
- Paragraph 2: Introduce the second supporting point with relevant details.
- Use topic sentences to clearly state the main idea of each paragraph.
- Provide evidence, examples, or statistics to support your points.
- Use cohesive devices to ensure smooth transitions between paragraphs and ideas.
5. Counterargument (Optional): Acknowledge the opposing viewpoint briefly and refute it with logical reasoning or
evidence.
6. Conclusion: Summarize your main points and restate your opinion or provide a balanced view if necessary.
7. Avoid introducing new ideas or information.
Useful Strategies:
1. Time Management: Allocate enough time for both tasks. Spend around 20 minutes on Task 1 and 40 minutes on
Task 2.
2. Planning: Spend a few minutes planning your response, organizing your ideas, and creating an outline.
3. Grammar and Vocabulary: Demonstrate a range of grammatical structures and use a variety of vocabulary to
enhance your language skills.
4. Proofreading: Leave a few minutes at the end to review and edit your writing for grammar, spelling, and
coherence.
5. Mind Mapping: Creating a mind map can be a useful pre-writing technique to organize your thoughts and ideas.
Start with the main topic in the center and branch out to subtopics and supporting points. Use arrows and
keywords to connect related ideas.
