Goal
A portfolio of work within landscape architecture requires graphic and digital
communication utilising a series of software tools which express clearly your
conceptual thinking, design intent and solutions. A landscape architecture and
environmental design portfolio is a critical piece to your future career, whether
within the work force at an office or in applications to graduate schools.
Employers and Admissions look for specific skills and qualities within your
portfolio:
Graphic clarity (color, typography, layout, methods)
Problem solving capacity and approach
Diversity of projects and capacity to think about them
Ecological and Sustainable practices
Principles of design
Conceptual thinking
Site analysis
Section drawings and clarity
Written and verbal communication
Software applications familiarity
Site materials and construction methods
Show your current portfolio of work samples and current level of overall
skillset. The instructor will help you identify areas of improvement and work
with you to develop these in your final year of study.
1. Locate 9 to 15 items of your best work so far within your studies which show your
conceptual design thinking, software skills, problem solving, & final graphic
boards.
2. Show a diversity of projects (urban, ecological, etc.) and a diversity of graphics
(plan, sketch, elevation, section, perspective, axonometric) and a diversity of
software (AutoCad, photoshop, pencil pen sketch, illustrator/inDesign, Sketchup)
3. Submit in PDF form to my email, Title this your“lastname_firstname_portfolio.pdf”.
If you are submitting images (jpeg, tiff, etc.) just add a #1, #2, etc to the
last “firstname_lastnameP1.jpg” (P2, P3, etc.)
