My teaching philosophy is strongly influenced by Abraham Maslow’s humanist
approach and in particular his Hierarchy of Needs. I aim to ensure students’
basic needs are met in the classroom so that they feel happy, comfortable, safe
and welcomed into the classroom. When students’ basic needs are met, they can
focus on learning and personal development.

THE DAWN’S AWAKE

By: Otto Leland Bohanan

The Dawn’s awake

A flash of smoldering flame and fire
Ignites the East. Then, higher, higher,
O’er all the sky so gray, forlorn, The
Torch of gold is borne.
The Dawn’s awake!
The dawn of a thousand dreams and thrills.
And music singing in the hills
A paean of eternal spring
Voices the new awakening.

The Dawn’s awake!

Whispers of pent-up harmonies,
With the mingled fragrances of the trees;
Faint snatches of half-forgotten song—
Fathers! Torn and numb,--
The boon of light we craved, awaited long,

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills
#1 Research is considered one of the key
things significant to the advancement in
many aspects of the society be it in
education, politics, medicine,
technology, and many more. It is defined
as the systematic gathering of data in
order to answer a question, prove a
certain point, establish a fact, or reach
a new conclusion. It is systematic
because it follows a certain procedure or
process in order to get the most accurate
results.

An abstract is a brief summary of a

research project and its findings and is
written in not more than 200 words. It
aids the reader to understand the topic
being studied without reading the whole
research paper.

An introduction gives a background

information about the topic being studied
while the Review of Related Literature
discusses some resources of what others
have written and researched on about the
topic. It is important that the
researcher has read a considerable amount
of resources to give himself a broader
and
deeper idea about it. Besides, all his
resources and ideas should properly be
cited in the paper. The methodology
discusses how the study was conducted.
The interpretation of the data gathered
is
written in the discussion. It is
considered one of the most important
parts as it tries to answer a lot of
questions by considering every available
data gathered from the different
procedures taken. A conclusion is a brief
summary of how the results of an
experiment support or contradict a
hypothesis. The acceptance or rejection
of the hypothesis stated in the initial
parts of the research paper
depends on the results of the experiments
and procedures taken. The reference lists
all the materials and resources used by
the researcher in the study.

skills #2 Activity 1
Directions: Accomplish the puzzle below.

I use a play-based learning approach. I follow

Froebel’s approach that states “play is the highest form
of learning”. Play help students learn through trial-
and-error, discovery and exploration.

Directions: Shade the LIKE button if the
statement is TRUE, and the UNLIKE button
if it is FALSE.

Sociocultural Teaching Philosophy - I encourage

students to learn in groups because I believe
conversation with others helps students to express,
challenge and refine their thought processes. By
listening to peers, students can also hear new
perspectives that may broaden their horizons and
deepen their own knowledge.
