Election for School Year 2023-2024
In accordance with the DEPED Order no. 47 s, 2014 titled “Constitution and By-Laws of the
Supreme Government and Supreme Student Government in Elementary and Secondary Schools”, the
Department of Education recognizes that the Student Government Program (SGP), through the
Supreme Pupil Government (SPG) and Supreme Student Government (SSG), is the foremost co-
curricular learner-led organization authorized to operate and implement pertinent programs, projects,
and activities in the school nationwide.

Supreme Pupil Government or it was newly known as Supreme Elementary Learner

Government is a school organization whose purpose is to train the students to become better
citizens in the future and to develop Student’s skills and abilities in achieving quality
education and academic excellence through cooperative works among themselves in
achieving their goals. In connection with this, the Guinabinhan Elementary School conducted its
yearly Supreme Elementary Learner Government (SELG) Election which was held on the 29th
day of May 2023. There were 2 parties involved in the Election namely the STAR PARTY and the
BRAIN PARTY.

Prior to this day, the SELG Adviser together with the other co-teachers, they conducted a
screening for those pupils who are determined to pursue their goal of becoming a pupil leader of the
school. After which they’ve filed their certificate of candidacy (COC) according to their respective
party. All the candidates we’re gathered by the SELG Adviser Mrs. Luneville S. Aniñon for a
meeting. This is to discuss about the Election Guidelines and what are the duties and responsibilities
of each leader if given a chance to win in the election.

On the 24th of May 2023, the candidates in both parties are introduced to the pupils and give
their brief information. Eventually, they conducted their room-to-room campaign the same day
started at 3:00 – 4:00 o clock in the afternoon. They were given limited time to have their campaign
and present their platform in each party. Each party independently planned their campaign
strategies and went room-to-room to introduce themselves and persuade the students to
support and vote them.

After their campaigns, the election was held and was participated by the pupils from
Grades 3-6 through printed ballots. Counting of votes was done after the election and the
winner was declared the same day. On the following day during the flag raising ceremony
the SELG Adviser announced the Official Winners of the SELG Election. Henceforth, the
winners were taking their OATH as newly Elected SELG Officers for school year 2023-
2024. Each officer is given time to extend their gratitude to their school mates, especially
to those who supported and entrusted their votes to them.

Narrative Report on “No Smoking Month” Celebration

Pursuant to the DepEd Memorandum No. 70, s. 2019 entitled " National No Smoking Month
Celebration.” all elementary and secondary schools are instructed to conduct activities related to the
observance of National NO Smoking Month held every month of June.

Thus, this celebration focuses on the awareness of the harmful effect of Tobacco and smoking
in our health not only the learners but to the whole community as well. Consequently, the
Department of Education is one with the Nation in observance of the National NO Smoking Month.

In connection with this, Guinabinhan Elementary School conducted activities such as

distribution of IEC in a form of flyers, posted signages of “NO SMOKING”, and a symposium to
raise awareness on the negative effects of smoking. The preparation of flyers and signages was done
by the SELG Officers and the BKD Officers as headed by the SELG/BKD Adviser Mrs. Luneville S.
Aniñon. The symposium was conducted the following day and was participated by the pupils of
Guinabinhan Elementary School.

Henceforth, the pupils are more knowledgeable to the harmful effects of smoking. The
symposium helps them a lot as it emphasizes on the promotion of healthy lifestyle of an individual,
and on how to avoid smoking.

Our school activities in the NO Smoking Month celebration ended so well and a successful
celebration indeed.
