Adjective/Relative Clauses

Function: modify the nouns


I saw a pretty girl.
Who -> I saw a girl who (yang) was pretty
and friendly.
Main clause: I saw a girl.
Sub clause: She Who was pretty and
friendly.
Whom -> I saw a girl whom (yang) Maryam
knew.
Main clause: I saw a girl.
Sub clause: Maryam knew her whom.
Which -> I saw a car which (yang) was very
luxurious.
Whose -> I met Hannah whose (yang)
brother (nya) is our friend.
I met a cat whose fur was soft
and pretty.
Exercise A
Change these sentences into adjective
clause.
1. SC: They ate meatball.
MC: Rio and Ria went to a mall.
Rio and Ria who ate meatball went to a
mall.

2. MC: My father will buy flowers.


SC: They Which will be planted in the
garden.
My father will buy flowers which will be
planted in the garden.
3. MC: The cat has been found.
SC: Someone stole it which yesterday.
The cat which someone stole yesterday has
been found.

4. SC: I came to her whose house yesterday.


MC: Ani is my friend.
Ani whose house I came to yesterday is my
friend.

5. SC: I invite her whom to go with me.


MC: Sinta is my girlfriend.
Sinta whom I invite to go with me is my
girlfriend.
6. MC: This laptop was bought by Mr.
Ganesh.
SC: His Whose daughter is cute.
This laptop was bought by Mr. Ganesh
whose daughter is cute.

7. MC: Indah is a good worker.


SC: She Who will graduate next year.
Indah who will graduate next year is a good
worker.

8. MC: Henry went to Japan.


SC: He Who traveled around the world.
Henry who traveled around the world went
to Japan.
9. SC: It Which left me at the airport.
MC: The plane flew at 9.
The plane which left me at the airport flew
at 9.

10. MC: I love this meatball.


SC: Somebody ate it which after I had
gone.
I love this meatball which somebody ate
after I had gone.
