I am interested to apply a place on the Intensive Master’s degree of Health

Policy, Planning, and Financing at London School of Hygiene and Tropical

Medicine with several reasons. Firstly, I am very interested in the topics
covered particularly health policy and planning. My home province, East Nusa
Tenggara (ENT), is a province with tropical climate. My interest in these areas
was first aroused during my undergraduate studies at Nusa Cendana
University where I studied public health and medical science. Many
publications show that
my province has less human resources on health policy, planning, and
financing. The course not only covers the above topics but will also introduce
me to the new areas of policy and finance which will broaden my knowledge
and understanding of the topic as a whole.

Secondly, my work placement at St. Carolus Borromeus Hospital Kupang

from August 2022 until Januari 2023 reinforced my interest in health policy. I
worked in health promotion division of the hospital. I did not only do my primary
job to promote health and our hospital to public, but also learnt about local and
national government policies in health sector. This improve my understanding
about Indonesian health policy. I also used informations about those policies as
materials of my promotion to people. Furthermore, I also manage social media
account of the hospital I worked for. Social media is very useful as platform to
promote health, so I used this platform as well as face-to-face meeting in public
places.

Thirdly, this course of study will fit into my career objectives, especially in my
province. My place needs individuals who are competent in health policy,
planning, and financing. I can apply knowledges and skills that I get from
this course to help authorities in East Nusa Tenggara Province to promote
evidence-based practice in order to provide a better health policy that has a
significant impact on the local community. I can also share my knowledge
from the course to strengthen health promotion for people in my province, so
they get right information about health system in Indonesia, especially in
East Nusa Tenggara.

Finally, I am so happy to study in an international environment. Your

prestigious institution offers many opportunities for young scholars from all
around the world to study under your supervisor. This provide a great
chance for me to extend my network so I could promote an international
collaboration with many experts to address many health issues in many
tropical countries including in Indonesia.
