GUIDE ON RECONFIGURATION OF THE INEC BVAS FOR THE

GOVERNORSHIP/SHA ELECTIONS.
All Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices deployed during the
Presidential/NASS Elections will be reconfigured for the Governorship/SHA Elections, and
deployed to same polling units the devices were deployed to for the Presidential/NASS
Elections.

Reconfiguration and redeployment of a device to same polling unit for another election does
not require purging all data on the device from the previous election. Only the accredited
voters is purged after it must have been exported, and election type changed while the voter
register remains.

Below are detailed steps on how to reconfigure the BVAS.

Step 1: At the INEC BVAS App dashboard shown in Fig 1A, click on RECONFIGURE/CLEAR DATA
to display the screen as seen in Fig 1B below.

Step 2: On the screen shown in Fig 1B above, select the Reconfigure Data option (option in
green) to display the message as seen in Fig 2A below. The action will clear all accredited
data in the device and allow for a switch to another active election (in this case, to the
Governorship/SHA Elections).

Step 3: On the screen in Fig 2A, accept to reconfigure by clicking on RECONFIGURE DATA.
Ensure the device is connected to internet at this point as this will automatically commence
data export. When data export is done, click on CONTINUE as seen in Fig 2B above.
Clicking on CONTINUE in Fig 2B initiates fetching of active elections as seen in Fig 3A below.

After successfully fetching active elections, the screen in Fig 3B displays for a user to select
the election to switch to.

Step 4: On the CHOOSE ELECTION field on Fig 3B, click the drop down arrow to display
available active elections to select from. Select the one the device is being reconfigured for.

Step 5: After selecting the election, click on RECONFIGURE DATA on Fig 3B to reconfigure the
device for the selected election.

Step 6: After a successful reconfiguration, the screen shown in Fig 4A will be displayed with a
button to RETURN TO DASHBORD. Click on it to return to dashboard as seen in Fig 4B.

At this point, reconfiguration is complete.
