2 Communicating objectives
At the beginning of each class you should tell your students or write on the board
what you will be doing in that class, and the aims you hope to fulfil, including
approximate time limits for your activities. Uncertainty increases the level of
excitement in the classroom, whereas if your students have a map of where the
class is going, they are more likely to appropriate your objectives for themselves.

Some teachers even suggest creating a kind of banner by pinning up and joining
together your lesson objectives for each class, as the course develops. This
enables students not only to visualise where they are going, but also to remind
themselves how much they have already learnt.
