All sanitary pipework systems shall be designed, supplied, installed, tested,
commissioned and set to work with BS EN 12056:2000 (Parts 1-5), Building Waste pipe within floor void
Regulations, and all other relevant standards and codes of practice. SVP Soil and vent pipe

penetrations 50mm and above through floor slabs and fire barriers. Seal

All soil and waste pipework is generally to be boxed in by the main


contractor as directed by the architect or run in service voids as provided by
the Architect and Main Contractor. Boxings and service voids to be complete
with access doors for maintenance etc where required.

WC's to incorporate internal overflows.

Above ground drainage installation to be complete with all fittings and


brackets as required to provide a complete and fully operational installation.

All above ground drainage materials and fittings are to be suitable for the
application and manufactured by Wavin or Marley or equal and approved.
Where utilised, PVC-U pipework and fittings must comply with BS4514 and
BS EN 1329. With the exception of pipework in the Basement which shall be
HDPE, all soil and vent pipework shall be manufactured from Polypropylene
pipework complying with BS EN 1451-1.

The following soil and waste pipework sizes are to be used from each
individual appliance.
WHB-Wash hand basin - 40mm (32mm trap)
Sink - 40mm
Bath - 40mm
WC - 110mm
Shw - Shower - 40mm
D/W - Dishwasher - 40mm
W/M - Washing Machine - 40mm
W/H - Water Heater - 32mm (sealed trap)

All sanitary fittings are to have 75mm deep seal traps. Anti-vacuum traps to
be fitted to wash hand basins and sinks where waste pipes to stacks exceed
1.7m in length.

AAV's to be fitted at a minimum of 500mm above overflow level of all


sanitary items on stack.

SVP's to terminate a minimum of 900mm above any opening within 3.0


metres.

SVP's are to terminate with durable plastic cowls.

All soil pipes and above ground drainage pipework to be installed having a
constant fall towards the connection point to underground drainage.

Rodding eyes shall be provided throughout the system as required. As a


minimum they shall be provided at each floor level and at all changes of
direction. Rodding eyes shall also be provided at the bottom of all svp stacks
where they turn through 90 degrees.

Rodding eyes should be fitted at the end of discharge pipes, unless trap
removal provides access to the full pipe length.

All connections to main stacks shall be arranged in such a manner to

prevent crossflow in full accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

Bends at the base of vertical stacks should be of long radius and have a
minimum centre line radius of 200mm on a 100mm nominal size stack. Two
45 degree radius bends may also be used as an alternative. The same
principle should also be adopted where offsets occur in stacks of one or
more storey height.

Stack pipe support brackets are to be provided at the base of each stack.

Prior to installation the designer of the below ground drainage system must
first approve the proposed above ground drainage layout to confirm they are
satisfied with stack and vent positions.

Pipework routes and drops are indicative and final positions are to be
agreed on site subject to floor void heights, joist spans and confirmation
