Psychology emerges, still as a philosophical branch, occupying philosophers such as

Aristotle and Plato in the search for the understanding of human behavior. It was only at the end

of the 19th century that psychology started to be considered an area of studies in the scientific

field. The approaches that emerged since then were numerous: behavioral, functional, structural

and psychoanalytic. The need to understand the driving force of our actions grew more and more

and the academies began to train psychological studies, providing support for the emergence of

new perspectives. In addition to the social aspects, scientific discoveries introduced the concepts

of Physiology, Neuroanatomy and Neurophysiology to the studies of the psyche.

Eventually, psychology found, in the constant scientific and technological evolution, a

way to expand its methods of study and fields of action. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the

need for isolation, the adaptations and adhesion of technology in the field of psychology became

evident. Faced with a scenario in which support for mental phenomena seemed more essential

than ever, technology was responsible for maintaining the bridge between patient and

professional. In addition to serving as an artistic channel and providing entertainment, digital

media have built a way to take care of mental health through communication with a professional.

However, more than considering the benefits that technological development has brought us at

that moment, we need to understand that other aspects that shape the current world are not easily

solved by technology and that they can even be aggravated by it.

Faced with a social scenario in which individuals are vigorously subjected to the use of

technologies, the constant bombardment of information, the media culture of aesthetic standards

and uncertainties lead us to follow a programmed and standardized daily life. So, day to day

becomes more and more voracious with regard to psychological pressures. Again, we observe the

development of a number of psychological problems. We are talking about a population affected

by high rates of depression and anxiety. In addition to the cultural aspects that surround us, it is

necessary to consider that the socioeconomic structures responsible for maintaining social

discrepancies deprive significant portions of access to basic services and rights, including services

related to mental health or even technology itself.
