Practicing New Skills #1 networking
 Establishing rapport with clients is an important task for any
service provider

Clothing how they carry themselves with what they wear, their posture,
and their over -all appearance
 Hygiene- is synonymous to cleanliness.
 It refers to practices that help maintain cleanliness to avoid
illness and the spread of germs.
IMPORTANT PRACTICES TO CONSIDER IN MAINTAINING HYGIENE
1. HAIR
Always make sure that your hair is away from your face
For the men, keep it short and well -trimmed
For the women, use a neat – looking headband or clip,
preferably black
Never color your hair outrageously, black and brown are
acceptable in the workplace but never blue, red or yellow
2. Breath
Regularly visit the dentist for cleaning and maintenance
of your teeth
Brush your teeth after every meal
Carry mints with you and pop one before meeting a
client.
Never chew on bubble gum while in a meeting.
3. Face
Facial hair should be minimized.
For the women, the use of make – up is necessary
4. Nails
Clean nails for both men and women are required at
all times
For the men, maintain short nails
Length of nails should be just enough for the hands
to be able to perform all their functions.
5. Hand washing
Always make it a point to wash your hands
before eating,
Keep a small bottle of alcohol or hand sanitizer
as an alternative to hand washing.
6. Socks and stocking
Always use a fresh set of socks and stockings
everyday.
If stocking have a run already, discard it.
7. Shoes
Shoes should be clean and well -shined.
All price tags and size tags should be taken out from
under the shoes
Heels should be kept clean from mud, dust, and dirt
8. Body Oder
Use a deodorant or antiperspirant underarms
cream to smell good throughout the day.
Keep a small bottle of your favorite perfume or
cologne in your bag and put some on prior to
meeting a client.
Networking
 An extensive network is a person’s most valuable asset.
 A network is a group of people that a person knows and can
easily tap.

TIPS TO HELP YOU GROW YOUR NETWORK


1. Actively seek out and attend industry conferences and
events where you can meet new people
2. Always have your business cards at hand. Give it to
people you meet do not be shy to ask for their business
card,
3. Have a one linear introduction of your self such as “Hi,
I’m Mistekee G. Maramag from Don Severino
Pagalilauan NHS. How are you?
4. Always ask about the other person (where he works,
etc) and use his/her name during the conversation
5. Maintain eye contact while in conversation
6. Do not monopolize the conversation
7. Excuse yourself politely from the conversation to meet
others.
8. You can also politely join a conversation without
interrupting the one talking by saying “May I join you”.
9. Graciously greet the host upon arriving and thank the
host before leaving the events.
Conversation –
is an informal exchange of thoughts and ideas.
Avoid asking sensitive questions such as asking about private
information, money, sex etc.
Also avoid interrupting while someone is talking lengthily about
yourself, and looking elsewhere while someone is directly talking
to you.
With digital technology, it will be easy to keep the conversation
going even after the face to face meet up.

Find another person whom you are not very close to or whom you do not
know. Turn on a timer for 10 minutes and engage the other person in a
conversation
After the activity, share your experiences with the class. Was it easy or
