any speaker would not want to happen. That is
why planning everything is the key to a
successful speaking engagement.

5. Use non-verbal cues

The right number of gestures at the right time is


the key element of public speaking as these
movements convey ideas more clearly. However,
there is a danger in overusing these gestures as
they can become distracting. Establishing eye
contact with the audience also works well in
maintaining confidence and establishing
sincerity

6. Remain calm
Whether you are delivering a prepared or
impromptu speech, maintaining composure can
always be an issue. The weeks of planning and
preparation may be put to waste if you keep on
making unnecessary movements as a sign of
nervousness. Taking a deep breath and having a
focused mind set can do the magic of staying
relaxed.
7. Practice
It takes a lot of practice and experience to be a
good and compelling speaker. Through constant
practice, one may be able to identify areas that
can be improved. Practice is the major
component of planning.

8. Watch your words


Your choice of words greatly affects how the
audience perceives the speech. One must be
careful enough not to use words that might put
his/her reliability and reputation in jeopardy.

9. Speak with clarity


One must observe proper pronunciation, stress,
intonation, juncture, diction, and pacing when
delivering a speech. These are just a few of the
many elements that should work together to
ensure that the ideas in the speech are clearly
conveyed. This, however, is not something one
can learn overnight. Consistent practice is
likewise necessary.
10. Be open to questions and comments

Always bear in mind that you cannot please


everybody. It is essential to be open to questions,
comments, and even criticism. These factors can
be considered when determining how to improve
or continuously refine one's style and craft.

five (5) minutes to prepare and present your group’s
assigned scenario.

b. Educational Seminar: Teaching a class, workshop, or
training session to educate others on a particular
topic or skill.
c. Political Rally: Addressing supporters, constituents,
or the general public to garner support for a political
campaign or cause.
d. Graduation Commencement Address: Delivering a
commencement speech to graduating students,
offering advice, encouragement, and reflections on
their academic journey.
