1) Have a crack – შეეცადო, თუნდაც წარმატების გარანტიის გარეშე. The time has come for us to
have a crack at something more considered.
2) Long shot – სარისკო მცდელობა. You can’t except a long shot to definitely pay off.
3) Take a shot – მცდელობა. Go ahead, take a shot – nobody will judge you.
5) Go for broke – რისკის ქვეშ დაყენება. I feel lucky today, so I’ll go for broke.
1) A paper tiger – ის, რაც ერთი შეხედვით შემაშინებლად მოჩანს, მაგრამ სინამდვილეში
საფრთხეს არ წარმოადგენს. The government was suddenly revealed as a paper tiger.
2) Go down like a lead balloon – საზოგადოების უკმაყოფილება. This voting campaign went down like
a lead balloon causing more irritation than support.
4) Sweep (something) under the carpet – პრობლემის არ აღიარება და ნაცვლად მის გადასაჭრელად
ქმედითი ნაბიჯების გადადგმისა, პრობლემის გადავადება. The company’s board of directors was
accused of sweeping financial inaccuracies under the carpet.
5) Make a pig’s ear – რაღაცის საშინლად გაკეთება. They made a pig’s ear out of the voting procedure.
1) Put one’s heads together – გადაწყვეტილებების ერთად მიღება. If we put our heads together, we
will be able to figure out a solution.
3) Have your head screwed on (the right way) – იმოქმედო ფრთხილად და რაციონალურად. She
will never fritter (გაფლანგვა) her paycheck away – she has her head screwed on the right way.
5) In tow – ერთად ყოფნა, სხვებთან ახლოს. I came to a strike with all my family in tow.

1) Mince one’s words – სიტყვების შერჩევა. The fact that you don’t mince your words can cause
offence.
2) Not pull any punches – თქვა ის, რასაც ფიქრობ, ყოველგვარი შელამაზების გარეშე.
3) Shoot from the hip – სიმართლის თქმა. I know that Greta is the straight talker and not so many
people like that she always shoots from the hip.
4) In the raw – შეულამაზებლად. The documentary showed the life in orphanages in the raw.
5) In a word – ფრაზა, რომელიც გამოიყენება ღია, პირდაპირი განცხადების წინ. In a word, she is
lying to us.
3) Fly in the ointment – უმნიშვნელო, მაგრამ არასასიამოვნო პატარა რამე, რომელმაც შეიძლება
გაანადგუროს ყველაფერი კარგი. I really enjoyed the party – the only fly in the ointment was not
being able to drink anything as I had to drive afterwards.

last nerve.
2) Frosty – ზედსართავი სახელების “cool” და “mellow” სინონიმი. We had a frosty time together,
didn’t we?
3) Funky-fresh – კიდევ ერთი სასაუბრო გამოთქვა რაიმე მაგარის აღსაწერად. This song is funky-
fresh – I love it.
4) Cool beans! – შესანიშნავია I can’t believe I won this game! Cool beans, man!
5) Hit the spot/hit the bull’s eye – იყოს,სწრორედ ის, რაც კონრკეტულ მომენტში საჭიროა. A bottle
of cold water would really hit the bull’s eye.
კიდევ “hot”-ზე
1) Land (someone) in hot water –რთულ და უსიამოვნო სიტუაციაში აღმოჩენა. She landed herself
in hot water by lying to the police.
4) Be hot stuff – ამ სასაუბრო სიტყვას გამოთქმას ორი მნიშვნელობა აქვს: პირველი - იყო
გამოცდილი და მოხერხებული, მეორე - გარეგნულად მიმზიდველი. She is hot stuff at math.
1) Air hose – არა, საქმე ეხება არა ჰაერის მიწოდების შლანგს, არამედ ფეხშიშველ სიარულს
(‘hosiery’ – წინდებია).
3) Skinny-dip – შიშველი ცურვა. He sneaked out of the hotel for some midnight skinny-dipping.
4) Shuck/shuck down – გახდა. He shucked himself quickly and jumped into the water.
5) Skivvies – საცვალი. The heat wave tempted even the most modest ones to strip down to their
skivvies.
პროფესიონალურ ამოცანებზე
1) Jampacked – დატვირთული, სავსე. This day has been jampacked with surprises – I am so glad it
has come to an end.
2) Knee-deep/up to one’s knees (in something) – იყო ჩართული რტულ სამუშაოში. We are knee-
deep in trouble.
4) Have a lot on one’s plate – ბევრ საქმესთან გამკლავება. With two new projects starting this week,
I have a lot on my plate.
5) Hurly-burly – აურზაური. I am so tired of the hurly-burly at work and I really need a vacation.
