Research Topic that we chose and the

reason.
The impact of a new tourism policy (Tourism Rules and Regulations 2022) on the local
business and community of Chhukha.
- The reason why we chose this topic over other research topics is due to its many
advantages such as
1. Accessible information: The information related to tourism is readily
available such as the number of regional and international tourists visiting
Bhutan. Moreover, some documents like Destination Chhukha clearly
state the number of tourists that visited the region before the tourism
policy was implemented. Due to such availability of information, it would
be far easier to do a trend analysis and other types of analysis. For
example, according to Chhukha Dzongkhag Administration (2021), the
number of tourists arriving in Chhukha Dzongkhag was 3,276, 2,971, and
2,490 for the years 2017, 2018, and 2019 respectively.
2. The clear focus of Research: When researching the impact of Tourism
policy, we can focus our research on key areas which are related to
tourism. According to Places of Interest | CHHUKHA DZONGKHAG
ADMINISTRATION, (n.d) wangkha, jigme Chu, Phuntsholing, ammochu
Crocodile Zoo, are some of the tourist attractions provided to tourists.
3. Presence of DESTINATION CHHUKHA Authenticity with Diversity
TOURISM ACTION PLAN (2021–2025 indicates the level of tourism
before 2022 and their plans. The presence of such a document will make
it easier to figure out what the trend of tourism was before the new tourism
policy took and what changes the new tourism policy brought. We can

 also take interviews with the Chhukha administration to figure out what
changes the new tourism policy brought and their attitude towards it.

The impact of the adoption of a pedestrian terminal in Phuentsholing on business.
1. The research topic is too broad. It would be difficult to study the impact of the
pedestrian terminal on all businesses in Phuentsholing. According to (the
University of South California, 2023), having a broad research topic may lead to
finding too many information sources and, as a consequence, it would be difficult
to decide what to include or exclude or what are the most important sources.
2. The research topic is too focused on the short-term impact of the pedestrian
terminal. It would be better to study the long-term impact of the terminal, as it
may take several years for the full impact to be felt. However, the pedestrian
terminal was only established on 19th September 2022.
3. The research topic is too difficult to measure. It would be difficult to isolate the
impact of the pedestrian terminal from other factors that are affecting businesses
in Phuentsholing, such as the COVID-19 pandemic or the war in Ukraine.
CSI market and the business growth in Bhutan.
1. The research topic is too broad. It would be difficult to study the impact of
the CSI market on all businesses in Bhutan.
2. It would be difficult to measure business growth in Bhutan and isolate that to the
impact of the CSI Market.
3. Researching a topic that is widespread like Bhutan would be too expensive and
time-consuming.
Assessment of Financial Inclusion Incentives and Their socio-economic impact in
Bhutan
1. The impact of financial inclusion incentives on socioeconomic
development is complex and can vary depending on several factors, such
as the specific incentives being offered, the target population, and the
overall economic environment
2. It can be difficult to measure the impact of financial inclusion incentives, as
they often have a long-term impact that is difficult to isolate from other
factors.
3. There is a lack of reliable data on financial inclusion in Bhutan, which
makes it difficult to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the impact of
incentives.
