• Citizenship is the status given to the citizens which provide them the right to

• Types of Citizen :
There are two types of citizens,
Natural and Naturalised citizens.
1. Natural citizens: are the citizens by birth.
2. Naturalised citizens: are the one who acquires citizenship.

• The Citizenship Act of 1955 provides for acquisition and loss of citizenship after the

A Person born outside India on or after 26th January 1950 but before 10th

A person born outside India on or after 10th December 1992 is considered as
a citizen of India if either of his parents is a citizen of India at the time of his
birth.

Alien and immigrant are two terms that are used to refer to non-nationals of a
country.

Non - Resident Indian
An Indian citizen who is residing outside India and holds an Indian passport

• Person of Indian Origin
• A person whose any ancestors was an Indian nationals and who is presently holding
another country's citizenship.(other than Pakistan, Bangaladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan,
Afghanistan. China and Nepal). The PIO scheme was rescinded w.e.f. 09-01-2015

The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009, which represents the
consequential legislation envisaged under Article 21-A, means that every child has a right to full-time
