Ladies and Gentlemen. May I have your attention? This is Captain
Henry Hock speaking. I have pleasure in informing you that all safety
equipment is in full working order. The bow and stern doors are closed
and secured. The ship is in all respects ready for sea. Please listen
carefully to the safety instructions which follow. In the unlikely event of
an emergency, please obey the orders given on the public address system.

Attention please! Attention please! This is your captain with an
important announcement. I repeat, this is your captain with an important
announcement. We have collided with a cargo ship. Two holds are
flooding. There is imminent danger to our ship. We abandon the ship
immediately. For safety reasons we request all passengers to go to their
assembly stations on deck. Please follow instructions given by the
officers and crew members there. I ask you kindly to remain calm.
Women and children first.

Would you mind if I ask you to show your ticket to stewardess standing
by ganyway? Mind your head and care your steps when your embarking.
The Captain is Wang Guowei. Welcome on board. I hope you have a
prosperous voyage.

Practical Expressions 实用表达方式
1. Passengers are requested to read all notes and leaflets concerning
safety regulations.
旅客需要阅读所有有关安全规则的须知和宣传资料。
2. All regulations concerning the ship’s routine have to be obeyed.
所有有关船舶日常工作的规则应该遵守。
3. Safety regulations do not permit passengers to enter the following
spaces: Navigating bridge; engine rooms; manoeuvring areas at the
front and back of the ship; cargo rooms and compartments; service
rooms; all areas and spaces marked “crew only”; all closed sealed
and roped off areas, spaces and rooms; car decks when the ship is at
sea.

out “Fire!”; Operate the nearest fire alarm; inform a member of the

23. There is no immediate danger to our passengers or the ship and there
is no reason to be alarmed.

24. The ship’s fire brigade is fighting the fire.

door and upstairs. Do not forget to take your lifejackets and blankets
with you.

30. All passengers of deck No.1 are requested to follow the crew
members who will escort you to your assembly stations.

31. When you get to your assembly stations, put on your lifejackets and
wait for further orders.

Lifejackets are stored in your cabins under your beds and at your
assembly stations. You are encouraged to try on your lifejacket.

43. All passengers must put on: Warm clothing; Long trousers; Long-

44. All passengers are requested to carefully study the safety instructions
behind their cabin doors.

and one short blast repeated continuously. Please act in the same
manner as under the general emergency alarm.

47. During the voyage you may hear some other sounds. These are
exclusively for the information of the crew.

54. When your name is called out, please answer loudly “Here”.
