Beyond Reading
Write a one-paragraph essay guided with these questions.

1. For you what is marriage?

• Marriage is one of the most crucial decisions one may make in one's life. You decide to spend
the rest of your life with one person. When people decide to marry, they visualize and look
forward to starting a family, raise their children together, and dedicate their lives to one
another. They vow to sustain their love for one other for the rest of their lives. Marriage should
have these three characteristics: Trust, Mutual Respect and Understanding, and Mutual
Cooperation. If any of these is disrupted, the entire spirit and core of the marriage is disturbed,
as well. Every person who wants his or her marriage to last a lifetime must cultivate and nurture
these qualities.

2. Does marriage give you the right to own someone?

• When it comes to owning his/her love, yes, you have the right to. But, what about his/her
entire life? No, it does not appeal to me. Every married couple must recognize that marriage
involves great effort, commitment, and fidelity, but it also requires compassion and
understanding in order to be truly happy and successful, rather than becoming possessive,
which can lead to a toxic relationship in the long run. Married couples should encourage each
other's personal growth and development, as well as help each other in becoming responsible
parents to their children.

3. Does marriage give you the assurance of someone’s loyalty?

• Yes, if you provide each other plenty of opportunities to get to know each other before
marrying. Marriage isn't exactly a lighthearted topic. It's holy, and it's a commitment for the rest
of your life. Although no one is perfect, clear and constant communication is essential for a
happy marriage. Be open and honest about your emotions, but speak with kindness and respect.
Being a good listener and taking the time to learn what your spouse wants and needs from you
is an important part of effective communication. Maintain open lines of communication by
talking to each other well, not just about bills and children. Feel free to express yourself. Make
time for you and your partner as a couple. With work and family responsibilities, it's easy to lose
sight of the romance factor. Make special dates for yourselves, whether you want to go out or
stay in. Send your kids on a play date as you unwind, converse, and enjoy each other's company.
I believe all of these can contribute to make you feel the assurance of someone's fidelity to you
as his/her husband/wife.
