DESCRIPTION/COMPONENTS/
ACTIVITIES
Dance is a performing art form consisting of sequences of movement, either improvised or
purposefully selected. This movement has aesthetic and often symbolic value. Dance can be
categorized and described by its choreography, by its repertoire of movements, or by its
historical period or place of origin.
An important distinction is to be drawn between the contexts of theatrical dance, although
these two categories are not always completely separate; both may have special functions,
whether social, ceremonial, competitive, erotic, martial, or sacred/liturgical. Other forms of
human movement are sometimes said to have a dance-like quality, including martial arts,
gymnastics, cheerleading, figure skating, synchronized swimming, marching bands, and many
other forms of aesthetics.
Dance has always been a part of human culture, rituals and celebrations. Today, most
dancing is about recreation and self – expression , although it can also be done as a competitive
activity. Dancing is an enjoyable way to be more physically active and stay fit. Dancing can be
a way to stay fit for people of all ages, shapes and sizes. It has a wide range of physical and
mental benefits including:
 Improved condition of your heart and lungs; improve muscle tone and strength; weight
management; stronger bones and reduced risk of osteoporosis;
 Increased aerobic fitness; muscular strength, endurance and motor fitness;
 Better coordination, agility and flexibility; improved balance and spatial awareness,
mental functioning and general and psychological wellbeing.

This endeavor envisions to produce dances that provides learning and awareness to issues
and concerns of the community, not only to the dancers but as well as to the audience.
Furthermore, we opt to conduct the First Annual Dance Workshop this August 11 – 14,
2022, End of School Year break, not to disrupt the conduct of academic classes.
