Course Title The Contemporary World Course Code: GE 4
Course Description This course introduces students to the contemporary world by examining the multifaceted phenomenon of globalization. Using the various disciplines of
the social sciences, it examines the economic, social, political, technological, and other transformations that have created an increasing awareness of the
interconnectedness of peoples and places around the globe. To this end, the course provides an overview of the various debates in global governance,
development, and sustainability. Beyond exposing the student to the world outside the Philippines, it seeks to inculcate a sense of global citizenship and
global ethical responsibility.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Aside from the major course outputs stated above, this course requires 7 summative tests. The students must attend classes as may be required by the
instructor online of offline (face-to-face) depending on university instructions in relation to our community health issue. Submission of seat works and other
activities are also a must.
Purchase of the main reference for this course is required. The OBE book is “The Contemporary World” by Gallinero, Winston, et. al. which is available at
the NwSSU-IGP (Bookstore).
GRADING SYSTEM:
To pass this course, one must accumulate at least 75 points through the course requirements discussed. The maximum points that a student can obtain
