CLOSET DETAILS

Closets is a small room for hanging clothes or keeping household items out of the way. It’s part
of the house and can’t be moved from room to room.

Difference from Cabinet

 A closet is typically used for keeping clothes, shoes, brooms, and umbrellas.
 Closets have bigger spaces with hooks for hanging long clothes such as coats. Closets
may have drawers for keeping socks and undergarments.
 Cabinets can be found in the kitchen and bathroom. Closets are found in bedrooms and
hallways in the case of broom closets.

Closet Organization parts

 Hanging rods at various heights for short, medium and long clothes. Each hanging
section can be designed to accommodate all of your clothing.
 Shelves are used for storage of everything from purses to folded clothing. Some items
optimize space or preserve certain types of clothing best when stored neatly in piles on
shelves instead of hanging on a rod.
 Drawers - These are great for storing smaller items that can get lost, for hiding contents
from sight, such as your underwear or socks, and option for locking capabilities. It can
free up space by eliminating the need for a dresser.
 Doors - can be used to either display or hide what is behind them while offering added
protection for specialty items. Thus, there are types of closet doors on purpose.
 Shoe storage/shelves - Flat, pull-out, or cubbies can be added to these shelves. It is
designed so each pair has a space. They can be side-by-side or front-to-back on deeper
shelves.
 Accessories & Upgrades - Add to the function and look of your closet with accessories
and upgrades. Tie racks, belt racks, valet rods, drawer dividers, backing (matching or
cedar), slatwall and accessories, cubbies, handles, rods.
 Baskets - Chrome, white, linen, or rattan. Baskets are good for toys, laundry or anything
else you wish to store in them. A great alternative to drawers or pull-out shelves and
trays.

Closet Rods
a larger diameter and thicker tube wall mean a stronger closet rod.
 Steel closet rods are the strongest option of all. These rods usually have a chrome-plated
exterior.
 Stainless steel closet rods act much similar to the steel ones. Additionally, they can also
resist corrosion and rust, making them the perfect choice for humid places like the
laundry room.
 Aluminum closet rods are extremely lightweight and rigid. Thicker rods can hold about
the same load as steel, though they aren’t resilient, so you cannot overload them as it will
cause permanent damage to the rods.

Best materials for Closet

 Wood - the oldest and most traditional building material. Most woods hold a lot of
weight without warping or bending. However, if you need to accommodate bulkier items,
hardwoods such as Cherry and Oak are a better choice. Hardwoods tend to be stronger,
stable, and more resilient.
 MDF (medium density fiberboard) / engineered wood - typically smooth and even,
without bumps and knots. Also, it is relatively affordable—and much cheaper than
plywood—in addition to being environmentally friendly for using waste wood.
 Plywood - one of the most durable wardrobe materials and robust substitutes for solid
wood. Considering that it is a low-cost and lightweight but may warp under heavy loads.
 Melamine - isn't a wood, this material is composed of a chemical compound similar to
laminate and plastic. Also, this material is not as flimsy as typical plastic. It is quite hard
and sturdy, making it a great material for shelving that store light to medium-weight
objects.
Other Materials
 Metal; Glass; Acrylic; HPL (high-pressure laminate); Textured Panels; and etc.

Mechanism
1. Hinged door or swinging door is one that has hinges on the side that allow the door to
open and close. This is the most commonly used closet door. Downside - As the hinged
door opens outward, there must be sufficient space outside for it to open easily. If
anything blocks the way, then you can't keep it there.
2. Sliding door (bypass door), which can be pushed or pulled along the track. For reach-in
closets, a sliding closet door can be functional and convenient. Comparatively to a hinged
door, a sliding closet door is a better fit for the small bedroom closet. However, this
sliding door needs to be installed very carefully, or it will shake or become stuck when
you try to push it. sliding door (bypass door), which can be pushed or pulled along the

closets have become popular because of their chic and rustic aesthetic. The barn doors are
generally used for walk-in closets.

4. Folding closet door, or bifold closet door, is an elevation of the sliding door. It provides
a full view of the closet interior and does not take up much space like a hinged door.
Nevertheless, folding doors for closet utilize more rollers to open and close, doubling the
risk of a track binding and falling.

Based on materials
1. Wood Closet Door - a commonly used material for both closet doors and interior doors.
Building a wood door is far easier than constructing a metal door. And as an easy-to-
construct material, it is able to be molded into various shapes and constructions, such as
wood bifold closet doors, wood sliding closet doors, etc. With a veneer or finish on the
front and back, the wood closet door can avoid mildew and stains, creating a sleek
appearance. Further, wood doors are relatively affordable and are therefore an excellent
choice for closet doors.
2. Glass Closet Door - a stylish addition to any modern home. Featuring a metal frame, the
glass door offers a luxurious look that blends well with modern decor. Furthermore, there
are different types of glasses that you can choose from, such as frosted glass, colored
glass, and an acrylic alternative if you are concerned that the glass might break.
3. Mirror Closet Door - When it comes to the bedroom closet, it can be much more useful
if it is equipped with a mirror. Instead of adding a full-length mirror, a mirrored closet
door is a better option. By using mirrored closet doors, it can help to save wall space and
bring light into the room, making the space appear larger and more inviting.
