MECHANISM

1. Hinged door or swinging door (THE TRADITIONAL CHOICE) it has a hinge on the side that
allow the door to open and close. These doors are attached to the door frame by two or
three hinges. - It is the most commonly used closet door.
TYPES OF HINGES
a) Half overlay hinge - are used for a pair of cabinet doors in the middle of a row of cabinets
where two doors have their hinges mounted on opposite sides of a shared middle partition.
b) Full overlay hinge - are used for individual cabinets or cabinets on either end of a row of
cabinets.
c) Inset Hinge - allow cupboard doors to be flush with the frame, which gives them a neat
appearance.
• ADVANTAGE - easy installation, and affordability.
• DISADVANTAGE – As the hinged door opens outward, there must be sufficient space
outside for it to open easily. If anything blocks the way, then you can't keep it there.

2. Sliding door or bypass door (SEAMLESS AND STYLISH), which can be pushed or pulled along
the track. It consists of two or more panels that slide on a track. Thus, a perfect way to
enrich a room while saving space.

• ADVANTAGES – Lightweight* For reach-in closets, a sliding closet door can be functional
and convenient. Comparatively to a hinged door, a sliding closet door is a better fit for
the small bedroom closet.
• DISADVTAGES - However, this sliding door needs to be installed very carefully, or it will
shake or become stuck when you try to push it.

3. Barn closet door is basically a variation of the sliding door. In


recent years, barn door closets have become popular
because of their chic and rustic aesthetic.
