안녕하십니까?
국립정신건강센터장 이철입니다.

우선 국가 정신건강 서비스와 연구의 발전을 위해 이 심포지엄에 참석해주신

여러분들께 진심으로 환영과 감사의 말씀을 드립니다. 그리고 바쁘신 가운데
자리를 빛내주신 대한신경정신의학회 정한용 이사장님, 전혜숙 국회의원님,
양성일 건강정책국장을 비롯한 내외 귀빈 여러분께도 감사의 말씀을 전합니다.

아울러, 지식과 경험을 나누기 위해 먼 길을 마다하지 않고 이 자리에 오신 영국 NHS의 Dr. Tim Kendall,
미국 SAMHSA의 Ms Kana Enomoto, 일본 NCNP의 Dr. Hiroto Ito, 호주 NSW 주정부의 Professor. Grant
Sara와 호주 멜버른대학의 Professor. Christos Pantelis, 일본 NIMH의 Dr. Yoshiharu Kim, 네덜란드
Utrecht Brain Center의 Dr. Rachel Brouwer, 미국 스텐포드 대학의 Dr. Terence Ketter에게 환영과 감사의
말씀을 드립니다.

또한 이 심포지엄을 계획하시고 좌장을 맡아주신 전 센터장 하규섭 교수를 위시하여 국내 발표와 토론을
맡아 주신 정신건강 분야의 저명하신 한국 측 전문가 분들에게도 감사드립니다.

정부는 ‘정신건강 문제는 우리 삶의 문제’로 인식을 확대하고 문제 해결의 패러다임 전환을 진행하는 시점
에서, 정책의 방향을 전환하여‘정신건강종합대책’을 수립하였습니다. 그리고 이러한 국가 정책과 사업을
뒷받침 할 국립정신건강센터를 설립하였습니다. 이에 따라 센터는 이미 국가가 전문기관 운영하며 정신
건강 정책과 서비스, 진료 및 연구를 수행하고 확산·보급하는 외국의 기관장 및 핵심 관계자를 초청하여
지식과 경험을 듣고자 이 행사를 마련하게 되었습니다.

이 행사를 통해 정신건강정책이 잘 수행되고 정신건강 증진을 통한 국민행복실현을 위해 앞으로 센터가

어떤 역할을 해야 하는지에 대해, 무엇이 필요한 지에 관해서 많은 이야기를 들을 예정입니다.

이번 심포지엄이 전 세계 정신건강 정책의 주요 의사 결정자분들과 최고의 연구 석학들이 한자리에 모이는

만큼, 정부와 학계 그리고 현장의 전문요원들과 정신건강을 전공하려는 학생들에게 구체적인 길을 안내
하는 값진 시간이 될 것이며 우리나라 정신보건의 수준을 향상시키는 소중한 시간이 될 것이라 기대합니다.
