Music is Where My Heart Belongs.

“Music is the strongest form of magic.” -Marilyn Manson

There is no doubt that music has become a big part of our lives. It is something that can
change how a person feels. Some say “Music is the language of the spirit” and I definitely agree
with this saying. Music has the ability to touch people’s hearts and bring individuals together.
Most people underestimate the importance and influence of music in our daily life. But we all
know that music is not only defines a sound, but it also reimagines lifestyles and characterizes
generations of people.

The power of music can be observed in a variety of musical genres. Music can be divided
into four groups, which are pop, rock, hip-hop, and OPM. Firstly, pop music features a catchy
beat, repeating lyrics, and a sing-along musical style with lots of instrumentation for vocal
harmonies. Secondly, rock music is an extremely deep genre of music that has a much deeper
emotional connection with its audience than any other. It has the ability to uplift your emotions
as well as connect with emotions of melancholy. Many listeners listen to rock because the words
sung touch them. Third is hip-hop music. It gives us direct access to a person’s most private
feelings and thoughts. It provides a safe environment for youth to express themselves, vent,
process their feelings, and grow. It offers young people a new way to express their own
personalities and emotions. Last but definitely not least, is the Original Pilipino Music (OPM).
This will give you a nostalgic calming feeling.

Here are a few examples of pop music usually played by the younger generation, such as
Water Melon Sugar, Seniorita, Uptown Funk, Dynamite, and Rain On Me. Let’s have some rock
music that makes you feel amused, joyful, beautiful, relaxed, sad, or dreamy. An example of this
is Free Bird, Don’t Stop Believin’, Layla, Dream On, and Hey Jude. Some people can really
relate to the lyrics of these songs. Now let’s talk about hip-hop music. Young people also like to
listen to or sing hip-hop songs such as Love Yourself, Ice Ice Baby, Top Billin’, Just a Friend,
and The Scotts to express themselves. And to conclude, another instance of OPM is Before I Let
You Go, Your Song, Forever More, Till I Met You, and Paubaya, as if extracting a strong
emotion from within. Hugot is a word that represents a sentiment that can be found in many
OPM love songs. It will make you swoon and want to stand up and sing. It’s worth trying out.
No matter what type of music you want to listen to, all music deserves to be appreciated, no one
knows how your life or the world would go without it.
