.Equation of circle and straight line 1.2

.Circle equation
To find an equation of the circle with radius(r) and center (h,
k), by definition, the circle is the set of all points P (x, y) whose
.distance from the center C (h, k) is r
2
+ (y – k)2 = r2) x – h(
At the center origin point x 2 + y 2 = r2

the
.radius and the coordinate of the center of the equation

( x +1) +( y +1) =6↔( x−h) +( y−k ) =r
→√2 6= h=-1,k=-1,r
Equation of straight line

Mathematics I

The equation of the line through the point(x,y)with

-:slope(m)is
y – y1 = m (x – x1)

Example 1: Find the equation of the line passes through the

.points p1(4,6) and p2(6,10)
//Solution
∆ y 10−6
m= = =2
∆ x 6−4
y – y1 = m (x – x1) y-6=2(x-4 ) y=2x-2
Example 2: Find the equation of the line tangent to the curve
.y=x3-3x-3 at the point (0,3)
//Solution
dy
m= dx =¿3x2-3 at (0,3) m=-3

y – y1 = m (x – x1)
y-3=-3(x-0) y-3=-3x

Distance from point to line 1.3

The distance between points in the plain is calculated with a
.formula that’s comes from the Pythagorean Theorem
