REF: PROPOSED MEZZANINE FLOORS (30.5M x 15.4M x 6.5M) IN GIKOMBA –
NAIROBI COUNTY.
Further to your request, we are pleased to submit our offer for the above works as follows.
Our quotation is based on your brief, our design and specifications.
SECTION 1: BUILDING DESCRIPTION
1) Description: 1 No shopping mall (We have quoted for 1No. suspended
floor.
2) Mezzanine floor plan area: 469.7 m2.
3) Roof floor: We have considered a double pitched roof.
4) Height between the suspended floor: 3.5m.
5) No of suspended floors: 1
6) Pitch: 12 degrees
7) Loading: Dead – 5.0 KN/m2 (Concrete slab 125mm thick, on Decking
Sheets 0.6 mm thick)
Imposed – 5.0KN/m2

SECTION 2: APPLICABLE BS CODES

1) Hot rolled sections to BS 4360 Grade 43 or equivalent
2) Cold formed sections to BS 5950 Part 5: 1997 or equivalent
3) Bolt and nuts to BS 3692 and BS 4190 or equivalent
4) Welding specifications to BS 5135 or equivalent
5) Welding electrodes to BS 635 or equivalent
SECTION 3: PRICE
1. Suspended floor structure comprising of primary universal beams, secondary universal
beams , UB colums, portal rafters, z – purlins (2.0 mm thick), anti-sag bars, rafter
bracings, 0.6mm thick decking sheets, staircases (2 Nos) and all fixtures necessary for
our erection.
2. Roofing sheets, comprising of pre-painted max cover (26g) roofing sheets – complete
with screws, flashings and all fixtures necessary for our erection.
3. Rain water goods: comprising of GI gutters, PVC downpipes and all fixtures necessary
for our erection.

Note;
i. All civil works, are not in our scope.
ii. All our prices are inclusive of VAT.
iii. We have not considered for balustrands, hand rails in open areas.
iv. We have not considerd any partitioning hence to be done by others at no cost to
us.
v. We have allowed for 1 suspended floor.
vi. We have allowed for the middle columns to terminate at mezzanine floor. In case
client want to extend them, it will be an extra cost.

SECTION 4: PAYMENT TERMS

1) 25% of the total contract value on confirmation of order.
2) 35% of the total contract value on approval of drawings/procurement of materials.
3) 30% of the total contract value once we are ready to commence delivery of
steelwork.
4) 10% of the total contract value prior to laying/fixing of deckinf sheets.
SECTION 5: PROTECTIVE COATING
1. All steelwork will be wirebrush cleaned and painted with one coat of grey oxide
primer after fabrication in our yard. Note that we have not allowed for finishing
coat of paint.
2. Gutters will be out of pre-galvanized sheets.

SECTION 6: DELIVERY PERIOD

We shall have the design and preparation of shop drawings ready after 1 Week. The
procurement, fabrication and delivery of steelwork to site to take 4-5 weeks from the
date of approval of drawings and receipt of downpayment. Site erection will take 3-
4weeks. However this can be discussed further. Also after 3rd week of
fabrication, erection will happen concurrently.

SECTION 7: COST FLUCTUATION/VALIDITY

Our prices are based on the current cost of materials, labour etc. and are valid for 7 days only.
Any increase in prices will be chargeable as extra. Should there be a substantial change in the
cost of raw materials within this period, the current quotation will not hold.

 SECTION 9: BUILDERS WORKS
1. You will have to provide us with electric power, water and sanitation for our
workers on site
2. You are required to ensure the works are insured(Contractors all risk) to
cover the contract value, existing and /or adjacent buildings near vicinity of
site
3. We have not allowed for any approvals from local authority etc, and if
required shall be arranged by yourselves
4. Site security and accessibility will be the responsibility of the client at no
cost to us.
5. We have allowed for light weight partitioning material in our design, like
plasterboard partitioning.
6. The client to provide storage for our steelwork at no cost to us.
7. Client to provide manpower to take our steelwork to their store upon delivery
of material to site at no cost to us.
8. Safety to the public around to be ensured/provided by the client at no cost to
us.
9. We have not allowed for preliminaries e.g Performance bond. If required, it
shall be charged as extra.
10. We have not considered enclosing the suspended floors structure.
11. All city council approvals to be done by a Registered Architect and
Regstered Civil/Structural Engineer
12. We have not allowed for any doors, windows and partitioning of the stalls.
