गीता नम्

Gītā-dhyānam

ॐ पा य बो तां भगवता नारायणेन यं


सेन तां पुराणमु ना म महाभारते
अ तामृतव भगवतीम दशा
अ मनुस धा भगव ते भव णीम्
oṃ pārthāya pratibodhitāṃ bhagavatā nārāyaṇena svayaṃ
vyāsena grathitāṃ purāṇamuninā madhye mahābhārate
advaitāmṛtavarṣiṇīṃ bhagavatīmaṣṭādaśādhyāyinīṃ
amba tvāmanusandadhāmi bhagavadgīte bhavadveṣiṇīm
Oh Mother goddess, Oh Bhagavad-Gita, I repeatedly invoke
you, the one who was taught to the son of Pṛthā, (Arjuna) by
Lord Narayana himself in the middle of the Mahabharata, as
reported by the epic sage Vyasa in 18 chapters, and the one
who showers the nectar of non-duality, by putting an end to a
the miserable life of becoming (saṃsāra)

नमोऽ ते स शालबु फु र यातप ने


येन या भारततैलपू तो नमयः दीपः
namo’stu te vyāsa viśālabuddhe phullāravindāyātapatranetre
yena tvayā bhāratatailapūrṇaḥ prajvalito jñānamayaḥ pradīpaḥ
Oh Vyasa of immense intellect, salutations unto you, the one
who has big and pleasing eyes like the fully blossomed petals
of a lotus ower, and who has lit up the lamp of knowledge by
lling it with the oil of Mahabharata.

नमु य कृ य गीतामृत नमः
prapannaparijātāya totravetraikapāṇaye
jñānamudrāya kṛṣṇāya gītāmṛtaduhe namaḥ
Salutations to Lord Krishna, the wish-ful lling tree for the ones
surrendered unto him, who holds in one hand a whip, and the
symbol of knowledge in the other, and who is the milker of the
nectar of immortality in the form of the Bhagavad-Gita.

स प षदो गावो दो गोपालन नः


पा व सुधी गीतामृतं महत्
sarvopaniṣado gāvo dogdhā gopālanandanaḥ
pārtho vatsaḥ sudhīrbhoktā dugdhaṃ gītāmṛtaṃ mahat
All the Upanishads are the cows and Krishna, the delight of the
cowherds, is the one who milks them, Arjuna is the calf, the one
of clear mind, who drinks the milk, the devotees are the
consumers of the nectar of immortality in the form of the
precious Gita.

वसु वसुतं वं कंसचाणूरम नम्


व परमान कृ व जग म्
vasudevasutaṃ devaṃ kaṃsacāṇūramardanam
devakīparamānandaṃ kṛṣṇaṃ vande jagadgurum
I salute the teacher of the world, the son of Vasudeva,
destroyer of Kamsa and Chanoora and the absolute delight of
Devaki.

श हवती कृपेण व नी क न वेलाकुल
अ म क घोरमकरा धनाव नी
सो खलु पा वा वनदी कैव कः के
bhīṣmadroṇataṭā jayadrathajalā gāndhārīnīlotpalā
śalyagrāhavatī kṛpeṇa vahinī karṇena velākula
aśvattāmavikarṇaghoramakarā duryodhanāvartinī
sottīrṇā khalu pāṇḍavārṇavanadī kaivartakaḥ keśvaḥ
With Bhishma and Drona as the banks, Jayadratha as the
waters, Shakuni, the king of Gandhara, as the blue lotus,
Shalya as the shark, Kripa as the rapids, with Karna as the
mighty wave, with Ashvathama and Vikarna as the dangerous
alligators and Duryodhana as the whirlpool, the river of war was
crossed over by the Pandavas (only) because Lord Krishna was
their boatman.

पाराश वचः सरोजममलं गीता ग टं


नाना नककेशरं ह कथास धनाबो तम्
लोके स नषट् प रहरहः पेपीयमानं मुदा
भूया रतपङ्कजं क मल सनं यसे
pārāśaryavacaḥ sarojamamalaṃ gītārthagandhotkaṭaṃ
nānākhyānakakeśaraṃ harikathāsambodhanābodhitam
loke sajjanaṣaṭpadairaharahaḥ pepīyamānaṃ mudā
bhūyādbhāratapaṅkajaṃ kalimalapradhvaṃsanaṃ śreyase
Let the blemish-free lotus of Mahabharata, arising from the
waters of the words of the son of Parashara, which has the
vision of the Gita for its sweet fragrance, with its many
anecdotes as stamens, fully unfolding (the nature of) Lord Hari,

happily relished by honey bees in the form of dharmic people,
destroy the ills of Kaliyuga, and be a bene cial force for us.

मूकं करो वाचालं पङ्गुं लङ्घायते म्


य पा तमहं व परमान माधवम्
mūkaṃ karoti vācālaṃ paṅguṃ laṅghāyate girim
yatkṛpā tamahaṃ vande paramānandamādhavam
I salute Lord Krishna, the consort of Goddess Lakshmi, whose
nature is limitless ananda, and whose grace makes the mute
person eloquent and enables the lame one to scale a mountain.

यं व णे म तः वैर्
वे साङ्गपद मोप ष य यं सामगाः
नाव तत तेन मनसा प यं यो नो
य न सुरासुरगणा वाय त नमः
yaṃ brahmā varuṇendrarudramarutaḥ stunvanti divyaiḥ stavair
vedaiḥ sāṅgapadakramopaniṣadairgāyanti yaṃ sāmagāḥ
dhyānāvasthitatadgatena manasā paśyanti yaṃ yogino
yasyāntaṃ na viduḥ surāsuragaṇā devāya tasmai namaḥ
Salutions unto that self-effulgent Lord, who is worshipped by
celestial chants of Brahmaji, Varuna, Indra, Rudra and Vayu; the
one whom the singers of the Sama Veda, extol by singing in the
sequence of pada and krama and the Upanishads, the one
whom contemplative yogis, with tranquil minds, see in states of
meditation, and whose nature neither the celestials nor the
demons know.
