1. INTRODUCTION

The intent of this specification is to cover the minimum requirement for construction of roads.
Interconnecting project sites permanently as well as temporarily during project period only, this
specification will apply for The Construction roads for GULF INDONESIA RESOURCES Ltd.

1.1 Scope

1.1.1 The new constructed roads for permanent roads is 500m long, 9m wide entrance road.

1.2 Requirement

1.2.1 Contractor shall be responsible for the use of public access roads and hold the Company harmless
against any and all liabilities and claims in respect of damage arising out of the performance of the works.

2. SPECIFICATION

2.1 Design

2.1.1 Upgraded or newly constructed permanent roads should be designed to a standard for major haul
requirements for axle loads determined by Contractor and maintenance will be of such to leave road in
good condition to hand over to the Company after completion of this project.

2.1.2 Temporary roads should be designed to a standard to allow the Contractor to haul and lay pipe as
per Company's pipeline specification. These roads will not be maintained after pipeline construction.

2.2 Construction

2.2.1 Site Preparation


2.2.1.1 Site clearance, preparation, grading, leveling, compaction of soils etc. shall be carried out in
accordance with the relevant clauses of Design Specification GIS-CBS-011-Site Grading.

2.2.2 Drainage
2.2.2.1 The Contractor shall conduct field design of all water crossing considering maximum discharge
capacity for the approval of the Company. Design shall be based upon available meteorologycal
rain fall data or site visual record of highest water level.
2.2.2.2 The Contractor shall remove any existing culvert or structure which is unsuitable.

2.2.3 Excavation and embankment


2.2.3.1 Excavation and embankment works and materials shall comply with the Design Specification GIS-
CBS-011-Site Design and Construction.

2.2.4 Sub-grade
2.2.4.1 Road Sub-grade means the finish road with profile or elevation as required in the approved
drawings.
2.2.4.2 The work under item Excavation and Embankment or Backfill shall be carried out to the elevations
sections and dimensions of road Sub-grade which is complying with the final profile of the road.

2.2.4.3 The works under item Sub-grade are maintenance of sub-grade during the project construction
period and reshaping, recompacting and other repairs during project completion time prior to hand
over to the Company.
2.2.4.4 Compaction of sub-grade for the final hand over shall comply to the original compaction
requirement of 95% standard dry density.
2.2.4.5 The Company reserves the right to order the Contractor to run random compaction tests at the
recompacted sub-grade and reject any work that does not comply with density requirement and/or
other specifications.

3. MAINTENANCE

Road maintenance during the construction period is the responsibility of the Contractor. This work shall
include maintenance of shoulders, slopes, culverts and all water streams crossing the road to keep the
road in good operating condition during construction period and to maintain them in the right shape,
complying all specifications concern during project hand over.
