 NECESSITY

 To protect irrigation infrastructure like Cheen wala Minor and main Muzaffargarh
Canal. The distance between Cheen wala minor and River edge is just 2500 ft and
intensive continuous erosion is reducing the distance with every passing day.
 To protect other Govt. infrastructure like roads, schools, police check posts, hospitals
and allied abadies like Bhindi Suleman Shah, Bait Cheen wala, Bait bait wala,
Kaleem chowk ect.
 To check continuous leftward erosion of precious agricultural lands, orchards etc.

Background:
 D/S of Ghazi Ghat Bridge, Ghazi Ghat D/S Flood Bund from RD:0+000 to
RD:75+554 was constructed to check continuous erosion of River Indus and to
protect Abadies like Basti Rind Adda, Ghazi Ghat town and Mauza Maitla in
addition to irrigation infrastructure and other Govt infrastructure.
 BACK GROUND

 Zilla council constructed Flood Bund from RD:0+000 to RD:12+000 in continuation

of D/S Ghazi Ghat Flood Bund to protect Abadies, fertile agricultural lands, Cheen
wala Minor and other infrastructure from River inundation.
 Cheen wala Minor and allied abadies D/S of Zilla Council Flood Bund are exposed to
River inundation as there is no any flood bund.
 Continuous erosion of River near Ameen Chowk and Kaleem Chowk has engulfed
houses, road infrastructures, orchards and fertile agricultural lands.
 Due to leftward drifting of river Indus the distance between River edge and main
Muzaffargarh Canal is reducing with every passing day.
 During current flood year 2022 River inundation not overtopped the right bank of
Cheen wala Minor but remained in toe of bank.
 During exceptionally high flood 2010 River water overtopped Cheen Wala Minor and
rushed to the right bank of Muzaffargarh Canal.
 PROPOSAL

1. Construction of Inverted Hockey Spur at RD:9+000 of Cheen wala Flood Bund.

2. Construction of Solid Sloping Spur No.1 U/S of proposed Inverted Hockey Spur.

3. Construction of Solid Sloping Spur No.2 D/S of proposed Inverted Hockey Spur.

4. Raising / Strengthening of District Council Flood Bund from RD:0+000 to

RD:12+600.

These structures have been provided as per recommendations of Model Study

and Departmental Expert Committee guidelines.
