Chapter 1
LIVING AND NON-LIVING THING

Ari has a cat. He named it Si Belang because it has two colors.

His cat is so cute. Every morning and afternoon, Ari feeds his lovely
cat. If he does not feed his cat, his cat will die. His cat eats every
day. His cat grows bigger day to day. The cat loves playing in the
park. One day, the cat bears four kittens.
Meanwhile, Ina has a doll. She never feeds her doll. Every
morning and afternoon, she only cleans her doll. Her doll never
grows bigger. It also cannot move by itself, so she has to bring her
doll wherever she goes. Her doll also never bears. It remains one.
In conclusion, cat is called living thing because it can eat, grow,
move, and bear. Meanwhile, doll is called non-living thing because it
does not eat, never grows, cannot move, and never bears.

DAILY ACTIVITIES

Your name is “Ms. Royya.” A TV news reporter just asked you to tell
about your daily activities. Read this text aloud!
Ms. Royya

Well, I almost always get up early, at about five-thirty. I get up

early because I like to go jogging along the beach and watch the
sun rise. Later, after breakfast, I go to work. I work in a bank
near my house. I don’t drive to work, I take a bus. It only takes
about twenty minutes to get to work. After work, I like to go to
my favorite bakery and buy some fresh bread. I get home
between five o’clock and five-thirty. My husband, Michael
usually makes dinner because he loves to cook. In fact, he is a
chef in a restaurant. His hobby is painting, and my hobby is
growing flowers in our garden. We also have a pet dog called
Wolfie. In the evening we take Wolfie for a walk, and then get to
bed by nine-thirty because we have to get up so early again the
next morning.
