“Today, we are going to discuss the different input devices that


are being used to automate a computer system.”

“What is input devices? Any idea from the class?”

“Very good. Input devices helps us to input our data or any
information into the computer.”

“Let’s now tackle about the input devices. There are two types
of input devices. The first one is used to enter or input data
using this device. Do you know what this device is?”

“Yes, Rayniel?”
“Keyboard”

“Very good! And what is the use of keyboard?” “We use it to input data to
the computer”

“That’s correct. Keyboard is an input device we use to input


data and information through the computer by tapping its
keys. It is consisting of numbers, letters and even symbols.”

“The second type of input devices is direct entry devices. These


input devices do not require data to be keyed by someone
sitting at a keyboard. We use these to transferring outside data
into the computer.”

“We have three categories of direct entry devices. First are the
pointing devices. What do you think is pointing devices?”

“Now what are pointing devices?”


“Yes, Kyla?” “Pointing device are
device we move to point

“That’s correct! We used this to point the cursor by moving it”

“Can you tell me what pointing devices is this? Yes, Chelcy?”

“A mouse is a movable input device that can help us to control
