TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S RESPONSE

 Now class, before we will start our

lesson proper, I have here 2 papers.
The paper on my right was torn apart
while on my left hand, it was still
whole.
We don’t know ma’am!
 Who do you think tare this paper on
my right side?

 Alright! We don’t know. May I request

(Tearing the paper apart)
Jones to please be here in front and
tare this paper on my left hand?

Jones ma’am
 Thank you, Jones! So, who tear the
paper on my left hand?

 Very good! Jones made the action

while the paper on my right side, we
didn’t know right? So, it has something
to do with our lesson for today, and
that is “Active and Passive Voice.”

 At the end of the lesson the students

should be able to:
o Identify active and passive
voice through discussion.
 b. List the active and passive sentences
from the short story” The tornado”
through T- chart

B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S RESPONSE

Now class let us first define what is Active and

Passive Voice.

Active voice, the subject performs the action.

So, in active voice class, the subject does or "acts "
upon" the verb in such sentences. For example,
everyone please read.

In this example, Marilyn, the subject, was doing

the action. Am I clear class?

Let’s proceed to the passive voice. One can change

the normal word order of many active sentences
(those with a direct object) so that the subject is
no longer active, but is, instead, being acted upon
by the verb - or passive.

Another Example:

Johnson’s house was destroyed by a tornado.

The tornado destroyed johnson’s house.

Let’s have more examples comparing both. Please

read.

Thank you so much. See the difference class. In

active voice, the subject “he” was eating maybe a
fries. While in passive, the subject was being eaten
by something so the subject was being acted upon.

Another example. Please read.

Thank you. In this example, on the active, Harry is

doing the action. On the passive, the six shrimp
was acted upon by Harry.

Do you understand now class?

Do you have any questions?

Alright, now I’m going to tell you a short story, a

story that will also lead us to our activity later.

Are you ready now?

The title of this short story is the tornado.

The tornado

Last month, the Johnson's house was destroyed by

a tornado. The roof was ripped off during the
storm. The car was picked up by strong winds and
dropped 2 miles from the house. Most of their
possessions were lost in the storm. The Johnsons
were housed and fed during the ordeal by family
and friends. Luckily the Johnson's house was
insured. Now the house is being renovated. The
walls are being repaired, the roof is being rebuilt,
and all of the rooms are being painted. The entire
house is being refurnished. A lot of money is being
spent to repair the house, but at least the family
wasn't killed by the storm.

And that’s the story of the Tornado. Did you

understand the story class?

Alright! Very good. Now let us proceed to our activity.

4. Application

I have here T-chart with Passive and Active on top.

What you are going to do is to write down as many as
you can, the passive voice you found on the story we
have a while ago, on the left side. And write down
the active voice of that passive sentence on the right
side. And after that, please post your works on the
board. Am I clear?

But before that, I will be giving you meta cards

write down the active and passive you found on
the story.

You may start now. I will just give you 3 minutes to

do your task.
Times up! Please post your works on the board.

Okay, thank you so much! Now let’s check.
