Is that clear class?

Yes, Ma’am.
Now, who can still remember our past
lesson? Go ahead John?
Our past lesson is all about Using Oral
Language, Stance, and Behavior.
That is right John. What is Oral language?
Oral language is the system through
which we use spoken words to
express, knowledge, ideas and
feelings.
Yes! That’s correct. It’s good to hear that
you can still remember our past lesson.

Ma’am please do a brief summation of the

Good job class! .

So, what do you think our topic this I think our topic is all about
morning class? culture, history and environment.

Now that you have an idea about our topic. Let

us now proceed to our lesson proper.
Presenting We're going to talk about aesthetic trends that
examples/ are popular among young people. Can anyone
instances of the give me an example of an aesthetic trend that
new lesson. they have noticed recently?
(some of the students are raising their
hands)
Yes Jane,
I have noticed a lot of people wearing
vintage clothes lately, like oversized
jackets and mom jeans.
Very good Jane! Can anyone else think of a
different aesthetic trend?
I have noticed a lot of people are into
the "vintage" aesthetic. They like
things that look old-fashioned, like
Good example Anna! Can anyone tell me why record players and Polaroid cameras
they think these trends are so popular?

I think people like the vintage because

it's unique and it reminds them of a
simpler time
Good point Jane. Now that we've talked about
different aesthetic trends, can anyone tell me
why they think some people choose to follow
these trends while others don't?
I think some people like to follow
trends because they want to fit in or be
part of a certain group.
That is a good point Anna. Does anyone have a
different opinion?
I think some people choose not to
follow trends because they want to
stand out and be unique. They don't
want to be like everyone else.
Yes jane, that's another reason why some people
reject trends.

So, let us define these three important terms.

First, culture, so when you heard this word

what comes in your mind?
Ma’am about traditions
Ma’am about beliefs
Yes, very good! All of your answers are correct.

Culture is central to the way we view,

experience and engage with all aspects of our
lives and the world around us.
Examples: Pamahiin(beliefs) weddings, baptism
and funeral etc. and also saying “po or opo”
especially to the elders which is shows respect.
For example, during a wedding, it is believed
that the bride should not try on her wedding dress
before the actual wedding day, or else the
marriage will not push through.
During baptisms, it is believed that the baby
should wear a special white garment, and that the
godparents should avoid crossing their arms
during the ceremony, as it is seen as a bad omen.
And during funerals, we show respect to the
deceased and their family by offering prayers and
condolences.
"Po" or "opo" is a way of showing respect to
someone older than you or someone in a higher
position than you. It's a sign of good manners
and a way of acknowledging their authority or
wisdom.

Aside from this example, who wants to give?

Ma’am religiousness
Yes, that’s all correct class! Ma’am hospitality
Ma’am generosity and helpful
Families who are faithful practice their religion
by going to church and praying together. They
consider their religion important as it strengthens
their bond and puts God at the center of their
lives.

Let's talk about hospitality. Can anyone give me

an example of when they have shown hospitality
to a friend or a guest who visited their home?

My grandparents always prepare a lot

Good example Jane, How about you, Anna? of food whenever we have visitors.
How does your family prepare when there are
guests coming over?

Very good Anna. My mom cleans the house and prepares

Hospitality is the act of being warm, friendly, snacks or drinks for them.
and welcoming to guests or visitors. In Filipino
culture, hospitality is deeply ingrained and we
often go out of our way to make sure our guests
feel comfortable and at home. Yes Jane?

How is it different from just being

That is a good question, Jane. While being polite polite?
is important, hospitality takes it a step further by
actively making an effort to make guests feel
comfortable and well-taken care of. This can
include things like preparing food and drinks for
them, giving them a tour of your home or
community, or even offering to lend them a
helping hand if they need it.

Let's talk about a Filipino trait that is admired by

many - generosity and helpfulness or Bayanihan.
Can anyone tell me what Bayanihan means?

Yes, exactly Anna! when someone is in need,

we come together to help out. We believe in the
Yes Ma’am, is it when people help

hand" to overcome challenges. It's a beautiful
practice that promotes unity and compassion
among us.

Generosity and helpfulness (Bayanihan)- When

a neighbor is in trouble, Filipinos are always
ready to help them.

Is that clear class?

Again, what is culture in your own
understanding?

Very good jane.

Yes ma’am, is the way of life or the
group of people that elaborate beliefs,
values, and symbol that they accept.

skills.#1 Historical context is the social,
political, cultural, economic, and
environmental influences. If we are
unfamiliar with the traditions, culture,
thinking, or events happening at any
time in history, we could misinterpret
or lose the meaning of a piece of
writing we are reading.

So, who wants to give an idea about history?

Ma’am it is the study of the past.

That is correct! History also includes the

academic discipline that uses a narrative to
describe, examine, question and analyze of
sequence of past events and investigate the
patterns of cause and affect related to them. And
also provide us with a sense of identity.

Examples: Jose Rizal’s Novel, Noli Me Tangere

as it has mostly fictional characters and historical
persons.

Have any of you read or watched historical tales

such as Maria Clara and Ibarra, which were
featured in GMA?
Yes ma’am!
What can you say about that story about Maria
Clara and Ibarra
I found the story interesting, and it
highlights the struggles and injustices
experienced by Filipinos in the past.
Very good jane. Maria Clara and Ibarra's journey
offers a glimpse into our nation's past and the
struggles we faced as a people, and by learning
about our history, we can better understand our
identity, appreciate our cultural heritage, and
recognize how it affects our decisions and the
mistakes we have made, which can be corrected
in the future.

Did you understand class?

Yes ma’am
Give me more example that under in history

Yes mica that is correct! Can you give me Ma’am the world war II
examples of events that happened during this
war?

Is this term familiar to anyone? Japanese.

Yes Ma’am.
Now let us move on to the last topic,
Environment.

John can you please read the meaning?

Environment - may refer either to

actual physical surroundings or to
social or cultural background factors:
an environment of crime and grinding
poverty.
Thank you John!

Environment is everything around us, a person

beliefs and actions depend on his/her
environment.

Can anyone give their opinion or understanding

of the term environment?

Example: “You miss the houses, and the cars, and

the people and the noise, don’t you?” My brother
Leon stopped singing. “Yes, but in a different
way. I am glad they are not here.” This line from
the story “How my Brother Leon Brought Home
a Wife” by Manuel Arguilla. Maria, a city girl
appreciated and respected Leon for what he really
is even if she already discovered the difference of
the life of people living in the province.

The story shows how Maria, a city girl,

appreciated and respected Leon for what he really
is even if she already discovered the difference in
the life of people living in the province. It also
shows that it's possible to appreciate and respect
diversity, even if it's different from what we are
used to.
In order to survive, it may have been necessary
for humans to be sensitive to their
surroundings, indicating that we have an innate
awareness of our environment and are drawn to
environments with certain qualities..

Is that clear class?

Yes ma’am.
Any questions and clarifications?

They were also dancing tinikling,
which is a popular Filipino folk
