Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Daily Routine
Prayer
Class, please all bow down for the
prayer. Louella, kindly lead us in
prayer. (The students will pray.)
Greetings
Good afternoon, class or should I
say kon’nichiwa, 8-Diamond!
Good afternoon, ma’am. Kon’nichiwa.
How are we today?

Awesome, then! Let’s face our We are doing well, ma’am.

classmates and have a little wave
to them. That was gorgeous!

Classroom Management
Just a class reminder, please make
sure that we follow the health
protocols. Always sanitize
yourselves and observe proper
social distancing. Last is to relax
and enjoy the class. Would that be
okay?
Thank you. Yes ma’am.

Attendance
For your attendance, class
secretary, are we all present today?
Yes ma’am.
Very good!

Checking of Assignment
I believe I gave you a task last time,
is that correct?
Yes ma’am.
Okay. So please bring your
assignment and pass it forward
then center aisle in the count of
five. Five, four, three, two and one.

Thank you!

Recall

discussion, Gianna, can you give
us a quick recap about our previous
lesson?
We discussed about irony and verbal

the irony and first type which is the
verbal irony. Can you give the me
the difference of verbal irony and

How about you, Harold?
Irony is a figure of speech wherein you are
having a contradicting idea while verbal
irony is stating the opposite way of

difference between irony and verbal
irony.

Are we clear students, or do we

have any further questions or
clarification regarding our last
topic?
None so far Miss.
If there’s none, let’s proceed.

B. Motivation
So, before we proceed to our
discussion, let me just introduce
you to a friend who happened to
have a mission, which is to travel
across borders and learn about a
certain country. Is it okay for us to
help her accomplish that mission?
Yes Ma’am!
Awesome! Let’s say hello to my
friend, Gigi and don’t worry Gigi,
the grade 8-Diamond will help you
today, is that right class?
Yes Ma’am.
Okay then, without further ado,
here is the first mission of Gigi.
Our simple activity is entitled
Watashi (Complete Me!). The
class will be divided into four. Each
group will be given a mystery item
and you need to assemble the parts
to create an object. To help you
guess what item it is, you will be
given a riddle that you need to
solve. Can you follow?
Yes ma’am!
Class, for one minute, all teams
should be able to complete the task
and shout “watashi” and present
their work to the class. The first Riddles:
team to finish and get it right will
win the game. 1. When I come, I bring the longest
vacation. Mangoes and watermelon
become your favourite fruit for the season.
Who am I? ( Summer )

2. I am a dreamlike fairyland but I can be

horrific to many when I cover the land with
ice. What am I? ( Winter )

3. Flowers in bloom, and rain showers I

bring. I live in your mattress and even
trampolines. What am I? ( Spring )

4. If money did grow on trees, I would be

the most favorite season. What am I?
( Autumn/Fall )
Very good, class Please give
yourselves a round of applause!

Did you enjoy our activity?

Yes ma’am.
What is the object that you
assembled?
It is a tree.
Very good, class. We formed trees.
Is there something special in those
trees?
We noticed that each tree has a
corresponding emotion.

Nice observation, Alexa. There is a

particular emotion/emoji that is
included in that tree and by just
guessing, why do you think there is
an emoji or emotion included on the
tree? I want you to ponder on that
question. You do not need to worry
because we will find that out
together.

Now, because we accomplish the

task, our friend Gigi will be able to
move to the next station.

C. Lesson Proper
Wow. We got a little present! Can
you tell me what is this, Yuan?

It is the flag of Japan, Ma’am.

Exactly, Yuan. Do you know

anything about Japan? Culture?
Belief? Geography? Zoe? Yes Ma’am. Japan is known for advanced
technology. The Japanese are very smart
when it comes to gadgets and technology.
They like to invent things.

Very good, Zoe. It is indeed true

that Japanese are intelligent people
who likes to create things out of
their resources because they do
have a very rich custom,
geography, and history. Let us have
one of the most famous places in
Japan which is Aomori. Leoj,
please describe Aomori based on Aomori has an abundant nature and
the images. resources.

Thank you, Leoj. Aomori is a

famous city and a tourist attraction
in Japan and it says there that is
considered as land of folksongs.
Does anyone here know what is a Ma’am, a folksong is a song that comes
folksong? Yani? from a certain place and reflects the
culture of that place.

Very good, Yani. It is a traditional

song that is passed down from
generation to generation, and is
often changed as they are passed
down. In the Philippines, we do
have our folksong like Leron, Leron
Sinta. How about you class, do you One Filipino folk song is the Bahay Kubo.
know any Filipino folk song. Zoe,
please share your idea.

Very good, Zoe. Bahay Kubo is

indeed a good example of a folk
song. And today, we are lucky to
have a folksong from Aomori. Fun
fact class, the folk song that we
have today does not have any
definite author and no definite
melody or tone.

But before that, our friend here

needs to accomplish another task,
which is to unlock some unfamiliar
words. So let us help her by
unlocking the meaning of the
unfamiliar words using context
clues.
The mud lark woke up early this morning
James, can you read the sentence and went to look for treasures in the river.
and try to guess the meaning of the
underlined word? I think Ma’am he/she is a person who
searches for treasures.

Very good, James. Mud lark means

someone who searches in the mud

I think paddy means rice field.

I think a dale is a land form.
Perfect, Jeisa! A dale is a form of She followed him across the dale and up a
land or a valley. Can you use that in

a sentence, Kandice?

Very good, Kandice. Did we all get

those? Now, we are going to read
these altogether. Yes Ma’am. ( Students will read the three
words aloud. )
Just please make sure that you
take note of our unfamiliar words.

Alright. Because you did the task

perfectly, Gigi will be able to
continue and we will now have A
Japanese Folksong from Aomori or
also known as the Changing
Season. Grade 8, Gigi has a
special message to everyone.
Jeisa, can you help me pull her gift
for us.

Thank you, Jeisa. Now, please read

Gigi’s message to us. When summer comes,
The paddy pools grow warm

different types of leaves to be put

season that the speaker is talking
about during the first stanza?

Very good, Grade 8. James, can

you pick the most appropriate ( Student will pick leaves. )
leaves according to the stanza that
we have?

Thank you, James. Let us see later

if that is correct. Now, based on the
stanza and the miniature that we
have here, how does the speaker Ma’am, summer is being accompanied by

Nice insight, Danica! Summer has

Jeisa, what is your opinion?
Wonderful, Jeisa. The mud lark and
the frog could be us who happen to
experience this season.
We go on vacation, Ma’am.
How about you, class, what do you
do during summer, Kandice?

Thank you, Kandice. That is true.

During summer, we tend to go
outside and enjoy the sun. In our
activity earlier we did have different

trees, right?

Can you raise the emoji that will

indicate your emotion during ( Students will raise their emoji. )
summer using the emoji that we
created last time?

Very good everyone. Summer is

equal to happiness. Probably just

the time. Do you agree?

But, how about the next stanza? When winter comes,

Louella, can you help me pick out

Now, we have another season to

talk about. Please help me choose ( Student will choose leaves. )
the most appropriate leaves based
on the season, Zoe?

Thank you, Zoe.

I think Ma’am that the folk song says that

Very good, Keisha! Based on this

stanza, winter seemed to let

class, do you want to experience
the winter season?

Imagine, that we have a winter

season here in the country, what do ( Students will raise their emoji. )
you think is the emotion that you
will usually feel during that time?
Can you raise your emojis? I chose the relaxed emoji because I
believe that during winter, that is the time

emoji. Why do you think so,
Danica?

Yes ma’am.
Very good, Danica. Probably, some
of you will agree that winter season
is like having the calmness and
peacefulness in life, right? When spring comes

find out more of our seasons. The mud lark and the singing frog

Rhianne, upon reading this stanza,
what do you think is the appropriate
leaves for that?

Spring might be the season for regrowing

trees and plants.
Thank you, Rhianne. Now, based
on the stanza and the miniature
that we have here, what can you
imagine during the spring season?
Kyrone?

Yes ma’am.
That is such nice answer, Kyrone!
During spring, trees had to regrow
their leaves and flowers bloom. It is
as if the trees and flowers are ( Students will raise their emoji. )
reminding us about new chances
and beginning, correct?

Now, grade 8, if spring could mean

Kyle, can you share your insight
with how this stanza and miniature

season might make the
surroundings seemed to be on fire
because of its color. And during
autumn, leaves tend to fall and
somehow leave its tree, correct? ( Students will raise their emojis. )

What are the emotions that you

consider strong and can be related
to autumn then? Please raise your

The idea of autumn or fall can

mean sadness due to dying/leaving
something or someone. Do you
agree?
The poem is an indication of human’s
feelings and how these emotions are
Absolutely. I was really impressed

Now, what can you say about the since we have different seasons, we,

it is indeed natural. Do you agree?

Are we clear or do you have

questions?

D. Application
