Good morning class! Good morning Miss Allyza!

Everybody stand up and Melchan Tuso: For those

requesting Miss Tuso to who are Catholics sign of
lead today’s prayer the cross…

(Prayer) (Prayer)
Amen. Amen.
Alright, before going back (Students are picking pieces
to your seats kindly pick up of papers and threw it at the
pieces of papers, throw nearest trash can and
those which you can find to arranged their seats before
the nearest bins and arrange sitting down)
your chairs.

To start today’s discussion, I Aiza Bataga: The words!

would like to ask you what Michelle Calimbo: The
makes a poem more style!
delightful to read? Christian Abrahan: The
elements of the poem!
Yes! You are all right!
Thank you for your
wonderful ideas, but do you
know that the secret recipe
of making a beautiful poem
is by using adjective words?

B. Establish a purpose For today’s class we shall

for the lesson learn about adjectives and
its’ functions. But why do
we have to learn it?

Aside from the fact that in

your levels we are tackling
about literary works in the
South-East Asia, knowing
what an adjective is would
also help you develop your
speaking, writing, and even
observation skills!

Is that clear? Yes, Miss.

C. Presenting For you to have a full grasp

examples/instances on what we will tackle
of the new lesson today, I would like to start
this class with an activity
and by that I would like to
divide this class into two.
This column as group 1, and
this column as group 2.

The name of this activity is Yes, Miss!

Mannequin Challenge Are
you all familiar with that?

In this activity, each group

will pick one representative
for their group for them to
act out the words I had
prepared for today’s class.

Each group will be provided

5 minutes to guess, and so is
the other group. You will
take turns.

The most group that

guessed correctly wins!

Understood?
Yes, Miss!
Very good! Now, please
choose your representative
and we will now begin our
activity.

(Activity)
(Activity)
Congratulations everyone!
Group 1 guessed the most (Claps their hands and
words under 5 mins! Clap congratulates themselves)
your hands for group 2 also!
Thank you for your
participation.

D. Discussing new Okay, everybody settle (Students sits down)

concepts and down.
practicing new skills
#1 As what you had observed, Adjectives!
what kind of words were the
answers for earlier’s
activity?

That’s right! Very good! So Sad, ma’am.

see? In using adjectives we
can provide clarity in our
sentences.

Asking the attention for the I had to be pouty, to have

two students who went in my lips downwards, to be
front earlier; Miss Jane, in gloomy, and maybe I had to
portraying the first word cry a little so that they will
what was the first word know that the word is “sad”
again?

In portraying the word,

what did you do so that you
can give the message to
your groupmates that the
answer was “sad”?

Very good!

Although even without

knowing what the asked
adjective is, you all still got
it right because of how your
representatives acted during
the charades.

E. Discussing new Now, in this part of the

concepts and discussion, we will
practicing new skills furthermore discuss what is
#2 an adjective.

Before we will have a deep

dive into what an adjective
is, let’s see if you are able to
spot which are the
adjectives in Pat V.
Villafuerte’s Elehiya para
kay Ram.

Turn to page 39 up to 40 as (The class turning to page

we all read together the 39 – 40 and reads it together
piece. with the teacher)

Now, what had you Aubre Polo: (Raises hand)

understood from the piece?

Yes, miss Polo? Aubre Polo: The poem is

an eulogy. It is an eulogy for
Ram.
Very good!

Now, what have you noticed Alona Dumale: The poem

in the poem? was describing Ram’s life
when he was alive, thus it is
full of adjectives.
Yes! That is correct! This
poem is an eulogy and it is
full of adjectives. This
poem talks about Ram’s life
when he was still a child.
Ram was a beggar and was
living in the dumps when he
was still young. Thinking
that this was only God had
given him, he thought that
all he can manage to do is
accept his fate.

Although when he grew up

and had a decent life, he
learned that there is more to
life.

And just like how any other

people would end up in life,
Ram was in his death bed
and now reminiscing his life

Just like a kite hitting the

ground.

So, that’s all about Elihiya Inspiring! Beautiful!

para kay Ram by Pat V. Emotional! Sad!
Villafuerte. How do you
find the poem?

Very good! Even your

answers are adjectives! So
see? Not only that
adjectives help you describe
one thing in a short yet
precise way, it also brings
life to a written literary
work.

F. Developing mastery Now that you have been

(leads to Formative introduced the proper use of
Assessment) adjectives, I would not like
you to only know how to
use it in a scratch level
surface, but I would also
like you to at least to know
how to speak it properly.

Together, let us look at a

particular piece titled Ang
Akig Mga Magulang by
Jerome Apilla being recited
by a grade 2 student back at
2019 – Miss Lorraine Jade
M. Astacaan.

Let’s watch it on YouTube,

and together let us all
analyze how she recited the
poem.

(Watches the video) (Watches the video)

Now that we had watched Shelea Dawitan: (raises

the video, what have you hand)
observed on how Lorraine
recited the poem? What
were her emotions?

Miss Dawitan? Shelea Dawitan: She feels

proud and happy about her
parents.

Yes! Very good! How about Rhea Mangubat: (raises

what are the scenario in the hand)
poems? How was it being
described?

Miss Mangubat? Rhea Mangubat: In my

own perspective, the
persona was describing the
scenarios when his parents
are working hard. I
imagined them being in a
humble life, and by that the
persona is giving huge
credit for his parent’s
perseverance.
That’s right! Very good!
Thank you very much Miss
Mangubat.

Now, as what you had Ellaine Menoza: (raises

observed, heard, and saw on hand)
how the speaker acted while
reciting the poem, what do
you think is the message
behind the poem?

Miss Menoza? Ellaine Menoza: It is about

appreciating our parent’s
effort and be grateful for the
days that they persevered
for us.
Very good! Excellent!

G. Finding practical In properly saying and

application of enunciating the words in
concepts in daily life poem can add up to
everything.

Not only using the right

adjectives can help your
poems be more beautiful,
but also properly saying it
can even make it more
beautiful!

In properly saying the

words brings more dignity
in the message behind each
literary work.

The objective of the poem

was to convince action, to
persuade, to give
information, and to
entertain the listeners, that’s
why the speaker in the
video was having specific
actions and enunciations.

This skill does not only

apply in literary works. You
can also apply it in a daily
life conversation!

Take for example the phrase Marc Mangaoang: (raises

“I am here”, how will you hand)
say it if you’re happy?

Mister Mangaoang? Marc Mangaoang: (says in

a happy tone) I am here!

Very good! Now, how about Jannocel Bontia: (raises

in a tired tone? hand)

Miss Bontia? Jannocel Bontia: (says in a

tired tone) I am here…

Excellent! Now, how about Eddrey Pasian: (raises

in a confused tone? hand)
Mister Pasian? Eddrey Pasian: (says in a
confused tone) I am here?
Magnificent! Very good
everyone! See? Depending
on how you say it and how
you stress the words, you
will have a clear message.

H. Making Now that we have touched

generalization and the vital points in a written
abstraction about literary works, I would like
the lesson you to prepare ½ cross wise,
and I would like you to
make two columns.
On the first column label it
as “Damdamin sa Tula” or
the emotions found in the
poem, but instead, I would
like you to write your own
observations there.

And on the second column I

would like you to write the
entire poem “Ang Aking
Mga Magulang”

I will give you 15 minutes

to complete the task.

(Students are doing the (Students are doing the

activity) activity)

Alright, time’s up.

Everybody pass your papers
to the person in front of
you, and people on the front
columns, please pass the
paper to the center isle.

I. Evaluating learning Everybody settle down.

Now, that you had shared
your point of views on what
the poem Ang Aking Mga
Magulang could also mean,
I would also like you to
analyze this excerpt from
the poem “Ang Aking Pag-
ibig” by Elizabeth
Browning na isinalin ni
Rufino I. Alejandro.
With the same group as
before – the first column
being the group 1 and the
second column being the
group 2, I would like you to
analyze this stanza and
identify what is the
dominant emotion being
found in the poem.

I will give you 15 minutes

to analyze and each group
are given at most 10
minutes to present their
observation.

This will be the guideline

on how you will be graded
with your presentation:

Clarity ------------------ 10%

Relevance -------------- 5%
Delivery ----------------15%
25%

Everybody, form a circle

with your group mates and
your timer starts now.

(Students are analyzing and

when the timer is up, group (Students are analyzing and
1 is going to present their when the timer is up, group
observations in the provided 1 is going to present their
poem in 10 minute) observations in the provided
poem in 10 minute)
Alright! Very good! Since
everyone had presented
their ideas nicely, you all
had received perfect points
for this activity!

Everybody clap your hands!

(Students applauses)
J. Additional activities For your assignment, I will
for application ask you to make your own
poem.

In this poem you will be

expected to choose your
own topic but must be
mindful on the proper use of
adjectives.

Write it in a ½ cross wise

and will be expected to be
passed next meeting.

Stanzas should be of
minimal of 4 stanzas.

There will be going the

guidelines on how you will
be graded:

Content -----------------10%
Technicality ------------10%
Creativity----------------10%
Originality ------------- 10%
40%

Understood? Yes, miss!

Alright! Fantastic. That is (Students stands up)

all for today’s lesson.
Everybody stand up.

Goodbye everyone! Goodbye and thank you

Miss Allyza!
