B. What is Demonstrative Speech?
Firstly, a demonstrative speech will teach the audience how to do a specific task or
process. Even experts may struggle with speech writing despite having all the knowledge
on the proposed topic.

Writing a speech that ensures your audience learns something new can be a
challenge. In this case, the reason is that a demonstrative speaker is like a guide that takes
the audience through an engaging step-by-step” ‘how-to” process.

C. The Nature of Demonstration Speech

One way people refer to a demonstrative speech topics is “How-to” because they
show:
How to prepare (or make) something
How to perform (or complete) a process
How something works

Basic example: How to Subscribe For An Internet Newsletter

Step 1: Fill in the blanks – name, email, etc.
Step 2: Submit your request.
Step 3: Check your mailbox for a confirmation email.
Step 4: Perform the action they ask for in the mail.
Just show them how to do it, step by step. Have you read my checklist? Okay, let’s move
forward:

Example a video of how to make something: https://youtu.be/ocYEGzrgaNY

D. Demonstrative Speech Outline

An essential outline creation tip is allocating time to different segments based on

the duration of your speech.
Introduction: This shouldn’t take too long. If you can do it in less than 2 minutes, it gives
you more time to talk. However, it should ideally not exceed 5 minutes.
Body: It is the central part of your article, and the time allocation will depend on your
topic and speech time. So it could run from 5 minutes to 30 minutes or more.
Conclusion: Make a summary that you can present in 5 minutes or less. Your finale doesn’t
need to run too long.
The students ask and answer questions (QnA) about the speech: The time you give needs
to be at discretion. The best thing to do is set a time limit, preferably less than 10 minutes,
and inform your audience of the number of questions you can take during the section at
the beginning. So, you can answer 2-5 depending on brevity.

⮚ Funeral Speech
⮚ Wedding Speech
⮚ Celebration of Holidays speech
⮚ Eulogy Speech
⮚ Etc.
● Here is one example of a Eulogy speech
Before Muhammad Ali passed, he struggled with tremors. In this eulogy
speech, Former President Clinton describes watching him light the Olympic
flame. The mere act of walking was a simple thing that was made great by
the circumstances.

“Finally after all the years that we have been friends, my enduring image
of him is like a little reel in three shots: the boxer I was thrilled to as a boy,
the man I watched take the last steps to light the Olympic Flame when I
was a president, and I’ll never forget it, I was sitting there in Atlanta, by
then we knew each other, by then I felt that I had some sense of what he
was living with, and I was still weeping like a baby, seeing his hands shook
and his legs shook and knowing by God he was going to make those last
few steps, no matter what it took. The flame would be lit. The fight would
be won. The spirit would be affirmed. I know it would happen”.
● Or simply just give an example of someone who congratulates others for
the wedding (example), shares the memorial moment before the event,
gives some suggestions, and feels happy for them.
