Energy Transfer

I. Objectives
A. Content standards
The pupils will understand how energy transfer works.
B. Performance Standard
The pupils will have an idea how and what energy
transfer can do.
C. Learning Competencies
The pupils give an example of energy transfer.
D. Learning Objectives
Elaborate end explain the function of energy transfer and
the importance of energy transfer.
II. Subject Matter
a. Topic:
Energy Transfer
b. Reference:
Into the Future: Science and health VI
c. Materials:
Lighter, Spoon, Ball and Tarpapel
d. Science concept:
Energy transfer the conversion of one form of energy into
another
The movement of energy from one place to another
III. Procedures
A. Prayer
B. Greetings
C. Settings of standards
D. Checking of attendance
E. Review
F. Engage.
 Checking of assessment

 Motivation
Perform how energy transfer
What happen to the ball when passing?

G. Explore
 Setting of standards to be followed in doing in the activity
 Group the pupils into two
Let each group perform the activity
Answer the following activity
1. Use the lighter on the spoon
2. Tossing the ball upward
3. Jumping three times
4. Small push from person to another

H. Explain
 Discussion/analysis
Energy is transferred by doing work on the object
and through heat.
There are three ways by which heat is transferred
these methods are conduction, convection, and
radiation.
Conduction is the transfer of energy through a
substance by direct contact. Solid are better
conductor than liquid while liquid are better
conductors than gas. Substances that are poor in
conductors called insulators. Rubber and wood are
best insulators.
Convection is the transfer of energy by movement
of liquids and gasses (Fluids). Convection in a
liquid can be shown by heating water. Heat
transfers and flows in liquids and gasses
Radiation is the transfer of energy in waves
through space. We receive heat from the sun by
radiation.

I. Elaborate
What happens when you boil water?
What happens if you put a spoon into a fire?
What happens when you get close to a bonfire?

Construct your own energy transfer by using conduction, convection

and radiation
J. Evaluate
Choose the letter of the correct answer.

d) Radiation
3. ___is called if water boils
a) Conduction
b) Convection
c) Radiation
d) Energy
4. ___are the three ways which heat is transferred
