1. Hot
2. Energized
3. Air
4. Temperature
B. Establishing a purpose for the Ask the student about his or her experience/s involving heat
lesson energy in their everyday lives.
1. While drinking coffee, have you tried heating your
palms by holding the cup/mug?
2. When you go to a beach/ resort/ river to swim, do you want the
heat coming from the sun warming your face?
3. Have you experienced your clothes being burned while ironing
it?
4. While cooking, have you experienced getting burned by
accidentally touching the stove or casserole?
D. Discussing new concept and Heat Transfer: Conduction, Convection, and Radiation
practicing new skills #1 What is Heat Transfer?
Heat transfer is the movement of heat energy from one substance
to another.
Heat energy always moves from a warmer substance to a cooler
substance.
Heat will continue to move until both substances are the same
temperature.
The greater the difference in temperature between the substances,
the faster the heat will transfer.
F. Developing mastery (Leads to Directions: Divide the class into 4 groups. Create a web diagram. Write
formative assessment) examples of heat transfer that belong to conduction, convection, and
radiation.
G. Finding practical/application Questions:
of concepts and skills in daily living 1. Why heat transfer is important in our daily life?
2. What experiences have you had that you can relate to the heat
transfer?
E. (Making generalizations and QUESTIONS:
abstractions about the lesson) 1. What are the three types of heat transfer?
(ELABORATE) 2. Give the examples of each type of heat transfer?
H. Evaluating Learning (Evaluation) Direction: Choose the correct answer. Write your answer in your science
notebook.
