Lesson Plan for COT No.

2
Subject: Science Grade 7
Quarter 3, MELC 6
Name of Teacher: NELSON L. MAGLASANG
Date of Observation: _______________

I. Objective: At the end of the lesson the student should be able to

1. describe the conditions necessary for heat transfer to occur. (S7LT-III-i-12)
II. Learning Task:
A. Subject Matter: Heat Transfer
Topic: Method of Heat Transfer
Concepts:
1. Heat is a form of energy that refers to the thermal energy that is in transit or in the process of being
transferred.
The process of heat transfer of heat stops when both systems are in a state of equilibrium.
2. The condition of heat transfer flow from a region of higher temperature to the region of lower temperature.
Hot objects in a cooler room will cool to room temperature.
Cold objects in a warmer room will heat up to room temperature
3. When heat is absorbed by a body, its temperature increase, and when heat is given off by a body, its
temperature is decreases.
4. Heat transfer can occur in three ways: Conduction, Convection, and Radiation.
5. Conduction takes place between object that are in contact with each other. Convection is a heat transfer by
movement of a fluid such as air or water. Radiation is the transfer of heat using rays or even in the
absence of material.
B. Process Skills: Inferring, Describing
C. Social Skills: Active Participation of Group Activity
D. Value Focus:” Always connecting with God makes us to receive His mercy and Love every day.
E. Materials: Alcohol lamp or candle, metal bar, wood, beaker or tin can

presence everyday We must have always convection
with Him through strengthening our
prayers so that we can receive this
kind of gift every day.
Radiating our self with Him is also
important, though we cannot see
Him and if we think that He is far
from us, but we can feel His presence
that He is with us always…………..

Materials:
Alcohol lamp or candle
Match/ lighter
Iron bar/metal bar
Wood
Beaker or tin can

Procedures
Set up A.
1. Light the alcohol lamp with the match. In the absence of alcohol lamp, candle can be use.
2. After lighting the alcohol lamp or the candle, hold the metal bar with your hand then put it on the flame of
the lighted alcohol lamp or the candle.
After few minutes, observe what did you feel as you hold the metal bar upon heating.
Guide questions:
Q1. When you heat the metal strip at one end, what did you feel as you touch the other end of the
metal? Why it is happened?
Q2. What did you noticed the temperature of the metal while you put it on the flame? Why?
Q3. How does the heat being transferred from the heat of the flame to the metal?
3. Repeat procedure 1 and 2, this time instead of metal bar used the tin can with water.
4. Observe what happen to the water in the can after 5 minutes?
Q4. What happened to the water inside the tin can after it was heated on the flame?
Q5. What happens to the particles in a liquid when heat is added with them?
Q6. Why is it that water have boils when it is heated by the flame?
