I. Business Overview

Pig farming or pork farming or hog farming is the raising and breeding of domestic pigs

as livestock, and is a branch of animal husbandry. Pigs are farmed principally for food (e.g. pork:

bacon, ham, gammon) and skins. In this agricultural sector, by raising hogs or pig can be viable

in the market of San Manuel, Isabela since it meets the needs and wants of the consumers of

fellow San Manuelenos. There are several competitors nearby the municipal of San Manuel

which it affects the travel time of the liveweight pigs delivered in San Manuel.

A form of agriculture referred to as "piggery" focuses on growing, raising, and

distributing pigs to target market. Pigs are second only to chicken in terms of their ability to

transform food into consumption of humans. The approach is common since pig or pork meat is

the most often consumed meat worldwide. In provinces with a large agricultural population, a

piggery is one of the more conventional business. Oinktastic Piggery offers hybrid pigs, quality

feeds, medicines, veterinary services, delivery and hauling services, processing and marketing of

the hogs, and reasonable payment. The company or enterprise provides the pig buildings,

electricity and water supply, workforce, security, and permits.

Despite the present pandemic, the piggery industry continues to grow in the Philippines,

where the population already consumes 14.9 kg per person and is predicted to increase this year.

The production of rice is the second-largest industry in the Philippines, worth P191 billion. 65

percent of it is dependent on backyard farming.

The pig agricultural sector has a number of benefits, such as rapid growth, quick returns

on investment, good feed-to-meat conversion, high demand, ease of raising, low feeding
expenditures, and disease resistance. Pigs are more resistant to diseases because they are

versatile and reasonably resilient. However, there are disadvantages to the pig farming industry,

including the dirty (manure, urine, and wastewater give off an unwelcome odor) and noisy (high-

pitched squeals when frightened or when hungry) components that accompany it. Typhoons can

be brought on by falling objects or flying debris and can cause severe damage to shelters,

including the possibility of crushing, injury, or escape if not eliminated.

Prior to starting a pig operation, it is important to consider the financial, health, and

environmental hazards. To reduce these risks and offer a path to success, a solid business plan is

important. While hazards cannot be completely eliminated, they can be reduced with the help of

a strategic plan. An effective business strategy acts as a road map for achieving objectives and

meeting expectations, ensuring a seamless entry into the pig sector. Consequently, for a piggery

business venture to be successful, an effective strategy is desirable.
