Personal Statement
Coming from a humble background in Pakistan, I Nisha strongly believes in the transformative
power of education. Despite financial challenges and being part of a family with limited literacy,
I was determined to pursue my passion for learning. My journey began with great difficulty, but
my unwavering dedication led me to overcome the obstacles. I worked tirelessly to free myself
from a challenging environment and saw a remarkable improvement in my academic performance.
Today, I proudly hold a degree in Food Engineering from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad,
making me the first graduate in my family. My educational journey is a testament to perseverance
and the pursuit of knowledge, breaking down barriers and defying societal norms that prioritize
boys’ education over girls’. This milestone is just the beginning of my ambitious pursuit of further
achievements.
Growing up in Pakistan, I witnessed the critical importance of sustainable agriculture, food
security, and the need for innovative solutions in the field of food technology. These experiences
sparked my interest in Food Engineering, which combines my love for science and my desire to
contribute to the betterment of society. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I consistently
excelled in courses related to food science and engineering. My academic achievements were
complemented by my active participation in research projects related to food security and quality
enhancement. These experiences deepened my conviction that Food Engineering is not just a
career path for me, but a calling to address the pressing issues of food security, nutrition, and
sustainable agriculture in Pakistan.
My journey from a disadvantaged background to academic success, my pioneering role within my
family, my passion for my field, and my potential as an advocate for gender equality in education
make me an exceptional candidate for the Scotland Scholarships for Young Women and Girls. My
story is not just about personal achievement; it’s about breaking barriers, setting an example, and
creating positive change in my community and beyond. This scholarship would not only recognize
my past accomplishments but also empower me to continue making a difference in the world
through education.
In this difficult economy and I have been unable to find a job to help me pay for tuition fee and
books. This scholarship will help pay for my classes and books. I will be able to focus more on my
education and not so much on how to pay my bills.
