LEARNING PLAN

Lesson: CHARTS AND GRAPHS Quarter: FOUR Week: 2

Subject/ Level: MATHEMATICS 6 Date: FEBRUARY 16,

2021

Transfer Goals
The students in the long run and on their own will be able to apply the concept of charts and
graphs in collecting data on one or two variables using any source so that they will be able to
choose to become a good researcher practicing clear presentation of data.

Essential Understanding: Charts and graphs are visuals that show relationships between
data and are intended to display data in a way that is easy to understand and remembers.
Essential Questions: Why are charts and graphs important?
I. Preliminaries

A. Review: Elicit from the students their prior knowledge on charts and graphs using a
visual presentation of it (pie chart).

B. Motivation: The teacher will present a bar graph about the student’s preference regarding
movies or series they want to watch. Asking questions pertaining to the topic presented
like how many of the students prefers novel? And which types of books is preferred by
most of the respondents?

C. APK: Ask the students to interpret the chart given through answering questions given by
the teacher.
D. Focus: Charts and Graphs

E. Unlocking of difficulties:
Bar Graph – it is a type of chart that makes use of bars to show the different categories and
the quantity or amount in each category.
Pictograph – is a way of showing data images. Each image stands for a certain number of
things.
Pie Chart – it displays data and statistics. It is divided into slices of pies with varying sizes
illustrating how much of one data element exists.

II. Lesson Development

A. Presentation of Concepts
Students will know
 Charts and Graphs
Students will be able to
 Construct a graph based on a given set of data.
 Interpret data presented in a graph.

Activity 1: After the discussion, let the students interpret data shown in a graph.

Broadening of Concepts:

LET’S EXPLORE!

The students’ task is to enumerate the activities they do when browsing the internet and
give their corresponding percentages based on how much time were spent. They are going to
label their pie chart properly.

RVM INTEGRATION
a. Ignacian Core/Related Values: Excellence
Why would you express data in charts or graphs?
b. Social Orientation: Environmental Awareness
As a Michaelite, how can you use charts and graphs in being aware about the price of
the goods or things that you need?
c. Lesson Across Discipline: Araling Panlipunan
d. Faith/Biblical passage:
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to
be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” – 2 Timothy 2:15

III. Evaluation / Assessment:

MAKING GRAPH OR CHART: Given the set of data, the students will interpret and make a
bar or pie chart on their own.

IV. Summary / Action

 What are the different types of charts and graphs?
 Why are charts and graphs important?

V. Purposive Assignment

CONDUCTING SURVEYS: The student will search on the Internet about the Top 5 movies of
2020 and they are going to make a chart on it (pie or bar).
