- Myofilaments  actin and myosin
- Actin: thin filament
- Myosin: thick filament
- Z disc: actin meeting actin of another sarcomere; binding of sarcomeres
- I band: only actin present
- A band: any region myosin present
o H zone: within A band; only myosin present
o M line: middle of H zone, middle of sarcomere, middle of A band

- 80% of space in myofiber


- Sarcomere: one unit on myofibril
- Light and dark bands create striation

Myofiber

- A cell within muscle


- Multinucleated
- Each myofiber covered by connective tissue endomysium, protective covering

Fascicle

- Groups of myofibers
- Covered with perimysium

Muscle

- Groups of fascicles
- Covered with epimysium
