9 Your school conducts regular evacuation drills for earthquake,

fire, flooding or tsunami.

The standard drill and evacuation uses simple steps to inform all teachers
and pupils how to perform Duck, Cover and Hold On - quake - safe action designed
to protect lives and prevent injuries from falling furniture and flying objects that can
become projectiles during ground shaking. Teachers and learners will then evacuate
the building according to the school disaster plan, which may be required for a
quarterly or semi-annual safety drill.
This activity practices the learners and teachers do the duck, cover, and
hold as one of the safety measures on how to protect themselves from falling objects
or debris in case of earthquakes.

If you are outdoors when the shaking starts, get into an open area away from
trees, buildings, walls, and power lines. Duck or drop down to the floor. Take COVER
under a sturdy desk, table or other furniture, if that is not possible, seek COVER
against an interior wall and protect your head and neck with your arms. Avoid danger
spots near windows, hanging objects, mirrors, or tall furniture. If you take cover under a
sturdy piece of furniture HOLD on to it and be prepared to move with it.
Pursuant to the Department of Education (DepEd) Order No.28, Strengthening
the Fire Safety and Awareness Program. Magapi Elementary School conducted a fire
safety drill on March 16, 2022, with the assistance of the Bureau of Fire Protection,
which was led by SF03 Johnny Ronald E. Lagrimas, OIC Municipal Fire Marshall.
Before it started, there was an orientation on what to do when a fire occurs in real life,
how to go outside safely when at school or at home, giving instructions about proper
fire procedure and giving some advice and techniques on what to do in case of a fire.
They offered fire drills to the teachers as part of the campaign for fire prevention
month. All teachers were present for the drill, and all participated in it. Certainly, the fire
drill was effectively completed with the genuine interest and cooperation of teachers to
learn about it.
