BACKGROUND

There is an increase in deforestation cases which are avoidable and are often overlooked in
the school and the local community. Deforestation has a number of negative impacts to the
environment and well-being of the society.

CALA

The CALA has two parts A and B which you are supposed to completed

PART A

 Carryout a research on the causes of deforestation at school and in the local


community.
 Research on the effects of deforestation.
 Suggest possible solutions to deforestation.
 In your report include interviews, record notes, use ICT tools, take pictures and make
recordings of your findings on ways of reducing the effects of deforestation at your
school and the local community.

PART B

Using the information in part A

 Design a poster or illustration or model on the effects of deforestation and preventive


measures on deforestation you have identified to raise awareness.
 Write notes and explain about your poster or illustrations.

HOW YOU WILL BE ASSESSED


 To assess your presentation the teacher will consider your research materials,
explanations about your illustration or poster or model that you have designed
 An Achievement Standard specific to this CALA will be provided so that you are
aware of the assessment criteria.
