Student’s Reflection: It has been an exciting experience in the first quarter as I discover the
culture, politics and society. These subjects have really explained life to me and I understand the
world around me.
The most crucial observation that I have made is the deep influence of culture on our
lives. Culture does not remain static; it mutates, and it determines our behaviors, norms, and
traditions. This has heightened my consciousness that the world comprises a rich tapestry of
cultures and the need to respect and appreciate the diversity in culture.
In addition, the idea of socialization has also opened my eyes. It is amazing to see the
extent to which our initial interactions and experiences determine the beliefs and identities we
develop. I have learned to value the contributions of family, education, and our surroundings to
making us into responsible and active citizens.
Some other controversial issues have been ethnocentrism and cultural relativism. I have
realized that the best approach to other cultures is to be sympathetic and open minded, not being
subjective to the view that we are the best. This has been a useful lesson for bringing
understanding and peace in a plural world.
Symbols and practices matter in our cultural, social, political and economic lives that
have made me more perceptive towards how everyday actions and symbols could carry
significant meanings. It has made me think about the role of common experiences in establishing
solidarity and a distinct peoplehood.
Finally, exploring the structures of social organizations has been informative. It has
enabled me to appreciate how the system works to control our societies as well as the
consequences. This knowledge has made me want to be part of those who are informed and
active at shaping the future of our society.
In summary, these first-quarter topics have made me understand that the world is so
complicated and different. I therefore look forward to learning more about culture, society and
politics as I mature into a responsible and participating citizen.

Parent’s/Guardian’s Reflection:
It is nice to observe your commitment and progress in your UCSP class. Your hard work
has paid off, and it shows in your scores. You have done well in a number of activities, tests, and
summative tests. The fact that your scores differ should be taken normal. Low scores should not
discourage you; they are a learning process. Never stop challenging yourself and always strive to
improve. I am so proud of your resolve to studies. Please continue doing well, keep asking
questions and you will always have my support.
